Terrible Aim Gm

So I am a GM Zen/ Flex support player, and I have made a DPS smurf and after 40 hours I have reached Diamond… I get into the right positions, ult at the right time, coordinate with the team etc. But I just can’ hit shots. Just the most basic of shots I miss. I miss Hogs and stuff like that all the time at a medium distance. It’s so annoying, what can I do? I play on 60 Hz and have 2000 hours FPS experience.

Play, you can’t get better at other heroes if you don’t play them.

Dafran said just play the game and practice

If you’re missing what you describe as basic shots, something fundamental must be off.

I can’t tell you what exactly, maybe you’re a low sensitivity player trying to be a high sensitivity player?

:man_shrugging:t2:

I wish you luck friend <3

maybe hitscan just isn’t your forte. You play Zen mostly, so you’ve got awesome sense with projectiles. Maybe you should try projectile dps instead!

Best tip I can give you is to get a 144hz monitor. I personally don’t have one yet, but I’ve seen mccree players go from plat to high masters after getting a 144hz monitor. It’s not the monitor itself that makes you instantly better, but it allows you to improve.

I main Mercy in high master-gm and made a dps account recently too. It’s got 30 hours and I made it to diamond playing primarily widowmaker.

for me getting used to this took some time, I feel like Improving your aim is finding a style that you like, and going with it till you find success.

This.
I cant hit the broadside of a barndoor with soldier but im comfortable with Lucio, zen, meis alternate fire etc.

But i also never played any fps for longer then a few hours.

I had a 144hz monitor (it broke when I moved houses and I haven’t been able to afford a new one).

It’s nice, but it’s not nearly that big a difference. Bumped my average accuracy on Hitscan heroes by about 5% or so, a bit more for McCree. Definitely the most important hardware item you could buy, I’d argue even more so than a mouse unless you’re using a trackball mouse, but it’s not mandatory.

You’ll get more by just cranking out a 100 hours or so of FFA DM on whatever DPS you’re trying to practice on.

What fps games do you play? I play cs:go and I find that a lot of the aiming experience can be transferred over, I know I’m in no position to give advice (bronze player lol), but try adjusting your sensitivity to match your previous fps game’s and make sure you have a big enough mouse mat/tracking area.

Thanks everyone for the tips, I play on 1600dpi 2 in game sens. Played TF2 prior to Overwatch, maining Medic and putting in about 1200 hours in to TF2. I have put in about 50 hours of DM so far, guess i have to keep grinding then.
