TELL ME HOW 200mb internet is not enought

[EDIT 1]

Just to clarify, i play on cable. I don’t use wifi to play any games.
Also, thanks for the comments. It’s being really constructive and helpull. I’ll try out some of the suggestions mentioned bellow.

[ORIGINAL TEXT]

Having 200mb fiber internet connection, playing direct on cable:
Disconnected twice in the same game.

I’m playing at morning so no one’s home and i have all the internet just for overwatch, yet it’s not enought.

When family is at home we can:

  • Play on Xbox online
  • 2 or even 3(when not on xbox) computers on any games with no lag
  • mom, dad and sister watching netflix on HD with no lag
All at the same time. (yes, we are 7 people on total)

But when i have some free time from work/university and decide to play Overwatch my connection is laggy…?

How?

I have 50mbit with 17 devices across 2.4 and 5ghz networks. And it’s enough.

Sounds like it might be your ISP or Modem/Router.

But it’s only overwatch who glitches like this for no reason.
As i listed, doing anything else is fine

It might just be a lousy provider or maybe whatever your playing on broke

Its your router or ip address is clashing with other devices. Look up how to set a static ip.

Test your connection with dslreports.com for bufferbloat issues. If you have bufferbloat issues, you need to enable a QOS service and throttle your connection to prevent the bottlenecking in your router or modem.

Also get off WIFI. It causes more problems than you can imagine. A 100 foot ethernet cable costs $10 from amazon.

Odd.
I would try seeing if your router is ok.

Ok so ive had my own internet troubleshooting before. So ill go through some of the things i did.

Firstly, your speed doesnt really matter unless you have multiple people using large amounts of bandwidth.

Now. connection drops are a common thing when using wireless internet, there could be interferences. Such as your neighbours internet.

Interferences

  • Other internet connections/mobile devices
These can often make your network unstable, depending on the traffic of your area. Generally most devices use 2.4ghz network, consider doing some research on how to use your 5ghz network from your router or your PC.
  • Walls/barriers.
Things between you and your wifi connection could interrupt your connection. To work around this you can buy a “Wifi range extender” or buy a router with a larger range. This could even be a problem with where your device is located, like if its inside a cabinet or something of the sort.
  • The issue i had personally, while trying to get wireless internet to work was our Microwave. Microwaves use 2.4ghz to run, i think. So whenever the microwave was used our internet would essentially drop completely. This was a hard one to figure out, but with like 2 months of thinking i finally got it. So this lead me to say that we need to swap everything to the 5ghz network. Explore some appliances in your house, near your router, and see if they may be interfering with your connection. The way i found this out was i looked at my network usage and recorded the exact times when the internet drops happen. And i figured out it happened at exactly 7pm every day when my mom warmed up food in the microwave.

Overall. I think blizzard stated that Overwatch isnt supported on Wireless networks, meaning that its only fully supported on wired connections. I found this out when asking a support clerk about this a while back when troubleshooting my own network. Now i use a wired connection and have no network drops/varying latency.

But i am playing on cable…
That’s why i think is so weird

ok.

To start, i think you should contact Blizzard Support and give them all the files they need.

They should be able to tell why these issues are happening, if its a client side type of thing.

Your cable service may be throttling you, as the new (lack of) net neutrality laws have gone into effect. It allows the ISP companies to reduce the effectiveness of anyone’s connection at will, and charge you more to bring it back to normal. They do this for IP addresses known to download and seed torrents primarily, so if you aren’t seeding/downloading torrents on the daily you should be fine.

Same thing happens to me.But I’m conected to a router. It never disconects, but as soon as I play OW it happens every 10 minutes.

You’re probably being throttled dude, if you live in America then it’s par for the course, Ajit Pai needs to walk off a tall cliff.

The router might have a problem. Also, if you have skype installed into your computer, even if you dont use it, it will cause dc’s in OW. Happened to me. I used to DC every other game, until I got rid of Skype.
