Teammates ranks much higher than mine

I have been playing with the same 3 guys in comp since OW 1. I started near the end of OW 1 so naturally I have been bad at the game. Ever since OW 2 has come out I feel like I’ve improved a lot and as a support usually lead the team in elims, healing, and am most of the time top 3 in damage. We get about the same amount of wins since we all play together most of the time. So why do I place in silver 5 and the rest of them place in the gold tiers? Are there different stats I need to be looking at?

I am perfectly willing to just accept that I suck, but no stat that I can see is telling me that I do. I just want to get better and I don’t know how to improve because it seems like I’m doing good.

I would not be surprised if there was actually inaccuracies and bugs which would place you at incorrect ranks in these situations. Given the track record of the matchmaker and the ranking system (which is not a good track record at all), my money is on some anomaly or bug.

For the record I had the same thing in season1. After just playing eventually the ranks became exactly the same as the friends and we would not get differences like that anymore after completing rank reviews

Were they gold in OW1? The mmr carried across to OW2 so the system might be trying to pull them back to that rank hence why it might seem they got their quicker.

I found this out when I played tonnes of games last season and performed very well but it seemed like it never wanted to move me out of bronze. 7 wins in a row with a good performance got me B2 > B1.

Turns out when I tried comp in OW1 and got bronze and then never bothered to climb after first placement it carried over to OW2 and its put me there and the system really doesnt want to let me out lol.

Wow! That is an almost unbelievably stupid system. That is probably it since they had been playing OW1 since its release and I do think they were in the gold tiers in that game.

Why wouldn’t they structure it so that every season is a reset and it’s own individual body of work? I’m sure there are benefits, but with the matchmaking as bad as it is there cannot be that many right lmao?

Yep, I made a new account and climbed higher in 7 wins compared to 250+ wins on my main. If you havent played alot of games yet I’d try your best to perform your absolute best while you can. Once the system thinks it has you in the right bracket its a very slow climb from there.
