Sorry but no thanks. From my observations with the people I see in game chat; things get worse not better.

People think they know more than you, they’re rude, they flame or blame people the list goes on.

I’d rather take a hit on callouts than deal with the clowns I’ve seen on chat.

Why? The personality type to want to FORCE team chat is probably the same type I don’t want to be hearing. Think of it this way everyone has the power to mute people, and you’ve just been pre-muted.

Go on find group if it’s really that important to you.

God no, I would wonder about quitting Competitive entirely if this was the case.
As a female with a very high voice, I get so much unwanted attention. Wether it be from guys who want to duo, or guys/girls who claim I fake my voice, or guys who just hate having women in their games… the list goes on.
All of these things that people force onto me have nothing to do with the gameplay which is why it’s so frustrating.

Toxic people do not appear THAT often to where you have to completely turn off team chat.

You can also just mute individual people

Team chat is always on, what’s not on is voice.

Muting individually is a hassle, we’re 5 years into this games life and it still doesn’t have a feature where you can hold tab, and mute with a single mouse click like other more popular games, it’s called an industry ‘standard’ and blizzard is way behind on them.

i always get the stereo types too omg a grill gril u suck kill urself, is that a 12 year old boy? but what im talking about is simply mandatory join teamchat, WITHOUT mandatory open mic, thats different. u dont HAVE to talk but atleast hear those who DO

I see, this would be interesting but at the same time I dont want to stop communicating with my friends because now there are strangers around.
Like me and my friends talk pretty much all throughout the round, meanwhile team chat is more about call-outs.
I dunno, maybe itd be a big improvement for solo play, but group play would be a little weird.
If you join a game and you’re in group chat, would you all get booted to team chat?

This would just make people waste more time by muting everyone. If someone doesn’t join chat, that’s fine. This is not OWL.

7/10 times that ONE person not in chat is …bad. to say the least and because they cant hear they cant co ordinate, i play with a zarya main and i can just feel his frustration, because zarya and many other heroes require coordination. then you have the 2-3 stacks which is HALF the team. its not good. it is even worse when its a sombra not in chat

Nah buddy.

The people who want everyone in voicechat are usually the worst. Voicechat with random players is highly overrated.

I don’t need people screaming in my ears when I’m trying to focus on what I’m doing. I don’t need someone telling me what to do or how to do it. I don’t need someone telling me to switch. I don’t need to hear someone telling everyone they suck. I don’t need to hear toxic players. I don’t need distractions. I don’t need to hear you.

No but it does ruin the experience. Especially when there’s a sombra on the team and no one knows who’s hacked or people who need to know aren’t in the chat.

They don’t when to fall back or push. (the little comm wheel shts do nothing)

They don’t understand the ult bank of the enemy team.

There’s so many positives and not that many negatives when you literally have a mute option you can use on the individual player causing your problems, instead of just out right not hearing the ENTIRETY of your team.

Extremely few people actually do call outs and even less do them correctly. It feels like it exist in this game just to be toxic to each other.

I would’ve quit the game years ago if team chat was mandatory. For me it ruins the game and should never have been added to overwatch. I still love Overwatch with over 2000 hours played and I’m confident it’s because I dont join voice.

Based on your personal opinion…

They absolutely can. You don’t need to hear someone’s voice to follow up on something. There are in-game features along with visuals that allow you to coordinate things.

Too bad. Even if the person was in voice chat doesn’t mean they would listen. People being toxic would also most likely lead to a negative reaction from the person which would mean they perform worse than if they didn’t hear the person in the first place.

It really doesn’t. If you’re that upset that someone else isn’t forced to hear your voice and opinions, you need to get over yourself. You are not God’s gift to man nor do you qualify as team dictator just because you put yourself on a pedestal.

Hacked targets have a visual indicator. If You can’t see the person she hacked by looking, you wouldn’t see them if she called them out. If she hacks a tank or someone big/in the frontline and you don’t see it or are just not focusing the tank who isn’t using abilities in the open, it is not Sombra’s fault you suck as a team.

Sombra communicating does help but it is not 100% necessary and she does not need to call out every time she hacks someone.

If you using the comm wheel does nothing, you saying it isn’t going to do anything either and if they can’t tell when to fall-back themselves or push with the team, your voice is not going to magically make them a better player.

People usually have their own mental assumptions based on the characters they interact with. This is not a huge issue that requires hearing someone’s voice.

Sometimes (at least for me) people don’t want to hear voices of other people and focus on their own performance. If you absolutely need people to be able to hear your godly call-outs, make a stack and you can all talk and listen to each other all day.

Crazy how that’s none of what I said.

It’s detrimental when your teammates can’t hear important call outs, then THEY do idiotic sht that loses us the game because they couldn’t hear the team.

Literally the whole reason why she’s bad is because of the amount of teamwork and coordination is necessary with her, lmfao bye.

I’m not some godly figure who NEEDS to have their voice heard so you can stop with that ignorant argument. The fact is, it helps A LOT to have communication. That’s like everyone’s problem with low elo is that no one communicates and it leads to the team have little to no teamwork.

There’s a reason why some heroes in OWL work SO MUCH better, and it’s because of teamwork and communication.

D.va and sombra are good examples of that.

You are at a great disadvantage if you don’t join voice chat. You should just mute the toxic ones or the ones that are giving prescriptive advice (ie advice on hero choice or how to play heroes - usually they are wrong anyways). Voice chat should be primarily used for enemy position call outs, or for the initiators (usually tanks - but not always) to let their team know they are going in to initiate a fight, or to remind their team to not stagger and group up.
