Symmetra is a DPS. DPS is the role that is required to swap to counter the other team more than any other role - except maybe for tanks.
If your team needs you to swap to counter their team and you are one tricking Symmetra despite teammate requests, then you are effectively throwing the game. Just because you win doesn’t mean you weren’t throwing, it means your team carried your bad pick to a win.

Why exactly should I swap while I have 4 golds and I even get to kill their pharah and winston numerous times? Can you give me one good reason to swap in that scenario?

It depends on what hero they are playing. Genji can work in every situation because his kit is too powerful. You just farm ult and nano blade every other team fight. Hanzo is probably the only other dps that you never really need to swap.
Blame Blizzard’s bad balancing if you don’t like it - but that’s just how the game is.

They’re no mutually exclusive, you can even play Sym, win AND have fun. It’s incredible how the game works.

Teammate: “GG guys, report this Sym”
You: “Report Teammate for false report, please. I played Sym cause she is the only hero I’m good at/I think Symmetra was the best hero in the situration”
Avoid and Report the teammate of course. Playing Symmetra will always make people report you. Dont play on EU servers and make sure your profile is either hidden or (even better) a clear “Symmetra main profile” (at least 75% playtime in the current season). That’s the best you can do, most Sym mains got banned at least once and since her rework she gets reported even more.

On one hand no one should report you just for playing Sym.
On the other hand your team winning doesn’t mean that your team won because of you. I’ve seen many people be toxic/throw the game/one-trick/etc and the team wins in spite of that person, not because of them. It’s possible to win and still be a major problem for your team.

I know the consequences but I can’t accept the fact that I should do/play whatever my teammate wants just because they “think” it’s not going to work.
It’s a team game, I know the team didn’t win because of me. We won because of good team sense. I’m not saying they should thank me, I’m saying they shouldn’t report me and act like I was holding them back. Why is everyone so negative towards Symmetra players? Just accept it, it’s ridiculous to report someone just because they play a hero people don’t like.

I agree 100%. It’s ridiculous that some folks cannot accept that Blizzard has created these characters for play. I am being encouraged to run Sym in comp and I have to question that based on all these accounts… if every little punk Genji that gets angry because he was dumb enough to walk into turrets over and over… that is his issue, not mine.
What I love is being called “cancer” for playing Sym and getting lots of kills with the primary, more or less the same attack as a decent Zarya… I’m like wtf… you people are never happy.

Yep, when you get 5x kills you’re a no skill nobrain no aim player EVEN IF it’s your “useless” primary fire. But if a Zarya does the same thing people stand up and applaud her like it’s a piece of masterwork.

Story is missing context.
Just because your team won, doens’t mean there isn’t a reason to report you. I wasn’t there, so I can’t say whether there was or wasn’t a reason to report you.
