What I’m saying is, whatever kind of imbalance in skill on the team should be marginal, considering the makeup of the rest of the team. You don’t need to explain any of that to me.
I just don’t see this playing out at all. I’m sorry.
I don’t see a “fair” game being all that different with one or two dropped players, or that a GM quartet is going to outskill a sextet of players at their skill range. This example does nothing to convince me that my math is wrong, I’m sorry.
I want to see this play out. Let’s get a team of 4 GMs + 2 GMs & 4 Masters in a game, and test your theory. (This is why I keep stressing that the hypotheticals are hypothetical)
Happy to tell you that’s not at all how that works.
While you gain additional protection, you’re also at a disadvantage in healing. And the entire enemy team can still pretty much insta-kill you by shooting you in the face, not to mention the additional pool of cooldowns and CC.
Let’s get 7 people together and run a game. 1 vs 6. Let me know your thoughts!
It’s a fun idea but you can’t really force “balance” on a PVP game in general. People will do what they want, changing number values mid game would be the most confusing thing to date.
Totally fair point, I am chastened. And I appreciate being called out for my rude kneejerk response.
Feedback:
It’s a good system, it certainly shows off your scripting skills.
I am hopeful that it can find good utility in future Game Browser games.
I don’t think it will be a solution for leavers in the main game, but hey, I’m just one opinion out of many.
I’d love to explore more in depth the impact this game has on full PUGs and Scrims. Where groups of 12 or so experiment with this to test how well it performs with imbalanced teams!
I’ve also done the legwork and spectated this system for more hours than I probably should admit, but I can say it’s well over 100. I think it, as a baseline, helps to even out the playing field at least more than not having it.
From my playtests I’ve noticed that the disadvantaged player is still at a slight disadvantage, so I don’t think it can be abused.
