There’s enough ways to murder a helpless Support already, we don’t need more gun.
Just make FUN and DYNAMIC TANKS and SUPPORTS and EVEN-OUT the ROLES.
Also please, don’t release another unoriginal DPS for the second BETA. Or any BETA ever again.

Yeah, for the second half, after the devs released “ohhh riiight, there’s a 3RD role!” And then gave them buffs to compensate.

I agree with the basic premise that we need more tanks and supports but DPS players still need new and interesting characters to play. We can’t just leave one role not getting new content.

Devs: “Here’s an idea, what if we combined two roles (Offence and Defence) into one giant, cancerous mess, then steal yet another hero from another role, then have the last OW1 character be a DPS, AND THEN make the FIRST OW2 character ANOTHER DPS!”.
Normal people: “…what? No-“.
CoD one-tricks: “Sure, ok.”.
Devs: “GREAT, good to see we all agree here!”.

You mean since 2016 supports have always been the best or competing for the best and most impactful roles in the game.
And support players were losing their minds when their class wasnt at the top for 2 weeks in 6 years and in a beta.
Yet DPs class has never been allowed to be at the top or else it is non stop crying till they get nerfed.

The two roles were essentially the same to begin with. The only thing the arbitrary distinction of offence and defence did was cause confusion. People getting angry you played McCree on defence, and etc.
The devs have already admitted Sym should have never been in the support category.
You’re adding weird malicious intent when there is none. The reality is that Sojourn has already been revealed to us with the OW2 announcement in 2019, and with all the development delays is most likely the furthest developed.

So…why didn’t they release a second new hero who is yet to be seen? Or at least give a teaser for said new hero.
She’s not a very good DPS either.
I agree with the teaser thing. It wouldn’t have hurt to give a teaser for Junker Queen or someone else.
As far as releasing a second hero we have no idea how things look behind the scene. My guess is that they’re very far behind though. Between Covid and Bobby Kotick apparently telling them to start and then drop projects constantly I wouldn’t be surprised if basically nothing was ready but what we got (And the PvE hopefully?)

Maybe they could show-off everything Bobby Nodick (the only way to spell his name) cancelled.
Or hell, just ignore the senile senior, since he will get the boot (plus a massive f’ing pay check) in a year.

She should have never been in the DPs category either. She was just thrown in there , and has always failed to fit in.
And when you said “devs” it was just one person. Kaplan who is no longer in the company. And he didnt say that, he said Sym should never heal or something like that.
Things change , just like not being able to play 6 Winston’s on 1 team. Things can always change.
Her playstle resembles a support more than a DPS hero.
She plays in the backlines with her team, she cant flank on her own, her ultimate is defensive not offensive, she cant do continuous damage like all dps heroes. She is a mash up of different gimmicks that dont work as a DPS hero. And giving her increased damage numbers hasnt changed all of this in the past. Its not about her damage. Its about her design.

Inclined to agree. The game didn’t need Sojourn, an extremely boilerplate hero, to usher in the beta. Personally, I’d like to see more interesting hero design in general vs. frankensteining already-existing hero abilities together: “We’ll take Rein’s shield, Dva’s Matrix, some projectiles, McCree’s flash, mix them all together and call this a new hero.” Would like to see more originality.

DPS can have Brig if they give supports Sym, Sombra, Echo, and…Bastion.

She could use a rework, yes. She most definitely isn’t a support though. I don’t feel like she’s any more of a support than OW1 Sombra is. It feels like moving her to the DPS was a pretty clear indication that supports will require healing.
No, Bastion and Mei should be Tanks, that is the only true answer.
