"Tanks need to be strong as there's only one"

So what exactly do tanks do that they need to be so strong for? All they do is w+m1 into the backline and help there flankers delete supports. Watching two tanks walk past each other to harass the others supports is standard meta at all ranks.

They don’t need to be so strong if they are just glorified DPS at this point. Nerf them as they are far to strong in relation to the other roles.

Ideally, Tanks should be the “breakpoint” for the team, but I do feel as though the role suffers from a multitude of problems:

  • Certain Tanks not really being designed for 5v5
  • Overtuned Tanks that got buffs to both their health and damage mitigation
  • Some Tanks not even having a definitive role within the role (lacking in reason to pick them over others besides “I like the character”)

Personally, I was okay with them getting buffs to their damage mitigation, but the health increase was a bit much (and an underlying problem).

They could’ve just kept the damage mitigation, and just lower global damage by a small sum, and they would’ve had better results, most likely.

Because this isn’t CoD or an MMO? No one wants to play a sack of health that eats damage for other people. They tried that, its boring. It doesn’t work.

This is the best compromise. They’re loud, dangerous and big, as they should be, but there’s only one of them. Stop grinding your face against tanks and learn how the game plays now.

Dude, they faceroll everything that isn’t a tank, and even then, it depends on the tank. They’re basically just oversized dps with more hps. If they weren’t broken right now, then the meta in arcade wouldn’t be 3 tanks and 2 heals. No dps needed.

To an extent yes but lets be real you always see the same tanks D.Va, Zarya, Orisa and Roadhog which should say a lot about the rest of the other tanks… COUGH they suck.

Although, I’d argue that only a select few Tanks really fit that mold.

Doomfist, Wrecking Ball, Sigma, and The Queen come to mind as counter-theses: they’re not really “dangerous” nor do they really present any sort of threat (unless the player lacks spatial awareness).

Making tanks as heroes an upgrade to other heroes broke all game modes except RQ.

As someone who warms up with no limits every time i get on. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

At most you see 2 tanks unless the enemy team has 3 tanks which every switches to bastion.

Let’s not use arcade to discuss balancing. That’s an area of the game designed around unbalanced scenarios.

I did not say “ignore the tank”. Stop reading what you want to read and try again.

You cannot ignore the tank, you have to play against the tank. Learn them, learn their weaknesses, stop walking into hog hooks or rein hammers, stop trying to 1v1 a full health tank and learn how the game plays now.

The tank changes, for the most part, have been one of the better things in OW2 compared to the original. Seeing upset responses from salty DPS players who’ve lost a “duel” to a tank come onto the forms to complain is wildly infuriating. If the dev’s followed your suggestions, the tank role would be dead again.

Lara is pointing to the emerging queue time difference, most likely. You start nerfing tanks and that DPS 6 minute queue becomes 12, then 18.

The problem is they buffed tanks that were already broken and powerful in OW1 like Hog and Zarya. They needed nerfs not buffs. 100 more HP for Hog? Absolutely low on brain cells with that decision considering how broken take a breather still is with the damage reduction. That and he STILL instantly kills everyone. I don’t even need to explain how wrong double bubble is.

Making a class op because they are unpopular is bad. And in general tank queue times are just slightly lower than dps, supports are by far the biggest bottleneck

Create a positioning advantage for their team. And stand on objectives.

  1. Dive was was a thing in 2016.
  2. Flankers are getting nerfed.
  3. Devs haven’t really done much to make Supports more happy besides Kiriko.
  4. They could probably do a lot more but their rapid balance patching system is broken until December 6th.
