I’m currently trying to learn Ana and I was wondering, what are the little things that you like for you’re Ana to do? Expect the obvious of Nano and heal you.(I also wouldn’t mind some tips for positioning) Thank you for your time.
I never walk in front of my tanks in any scenario. I also never contest any long distance DPS opponents like Cree, Hanzo, 76, Widow or anything that has even a slight chance of wrecking me because if that Hanzo lands a random headshot or 76 helixes on me my team is going to most likely lose the teamfight even if we trade. There’s almost never a good spot to do this unless you’re sure that you get the pick free
Also nanoing your Rein or main tank in general is almost always the better choice over something like a Genji, unless that Genji is high masters or above. Don’t save it for them even if they want to or you feel like it. You’ll just be dumping value down the drain that way
At the beginning of 2 cp map defense like hanamura, volskaya etc I like to ask the tanks to just look at where I am going to be positioned so they don’t end up trying to take a fight completely out of LOS. works for me often enough.
Call out when you are reloading, this can be super important. Call out nades and call out when you are going to sleep bob or the enemy nano rein, etc.
It may not seem like much but these little bits of info are often appreciated.
When i play Ana i usually switch my attention around every few seconds to keep track of all of my teammates, and ready to heal DPS or other Support even before they take a hit. If i wait for s.o. to start yelling “i need healing” before looking for them, it would be too late and i feel like i m not doing enough. Tanks are easy to hit and much more resilient, so you can always swiftly snap your attention back to them.
Depending on the enemy’s attention on me, i could position aggressively in case my team gives deep chase, or play more passive and shift positions to avoid flankers.
And for learning phase, it s important to stick with your choice of hero despite of the losses. But once you are efficient with her but still being more of a burden than an asset, i think it’s good to switch too. Just my opinion.
When you have reinhardt as your main tank and only shield, and you hear soldier on other team ult, not always its best option to nano your rein, it could get him confused at what to do, charge or block.
Also, look at your rein if you really want to even nano him outside of saving his skin, because sometimes people when they get nano they go tunnel vission, and one junkrat can trap rein before he would do anythng and thats a waste and sad times for everyone but other team (certially its not based on me doing this kind of thing to nano reinhardst on other team… dont look at my dps picks tho)
But im plat who dont play much anymore so dont put much focus on what i say.
This situation kinda depends on the tanks too. Sure you can nano them for sustain, but way too many tanks in QP right now are really just dps players flexing onto tank and they’re way too passive or lost in that role. I’ve nano’d many a Rein who just froze in their armour, put shield up and just sorta stood there doing nothing with the nano. Giving it to a bronze Genji in that situation likely would’ve at least had a chance for a kill or two, which is better than no chance.
In other words, pay attention to your teammates and keep in mind by watching their playstyle who will be your best nano target. Sometimes it will be tanks, sometimes it will be dps, and your choice will often be dictated by your teammates or the specific situation, or sometimes both simultaneously.
Use nade offensively, and call sleeps and nades + locations of them. Use nano to save teammates, not just for ult combos. Don’t be afraid to do damage to enemies if noone needs urgent healing.
That is all, thank you.
Naah you still nano the tanks over a non-high tiered Genji. You just have to do it in the proper spot so that they’re not about to retreat or hold their shield up or do something that’ll just nullify your nano. As long as you just nano the tanks at peak moments they’ll work wonders even if for example they just get a pick or two for free. Wasting it on high investment gambling for the same results on Nanoblade is just not generally worth it. Heck your other DPS will most likely be the better target too not to mention if you have like a Rally Brig for the Raidboss strat that can give you a free entire teamfight
