I used to be a tank main and then in OW2 I began to have less fun on the role.
I stuck with it because I love tank but as the seasons went by it got worse and worse.
This past season I’ve come to the realization that no matter what, tanking will always feel bad in 5v5.
And if so, I give up. I’m not playing tank anymore.
I’m not sure if I’ll be playing much more OW2 in the future, tanking is my favorite role and nothing feels like it, but unfortunately it’ll never be like 6v6 again.

i like playing tank when its purely skill diff
hate enemy tank swapping to orisa bc they die too much
its even worse when they get diffed after swapping to a mirror tank so they pick hard counter or orisa so i have to swap myself or fight an incredibly unfair fight
it’s just swap to win… cant play fun tanks unless the enemy tank cba to try hard enough

Just play the tanks that were meant for 5v5. The legacy tanks will always feel bad
It’s so boring.
Every match.
“Oh, I’m losing? let me swap to Orisa”
And queue the most boring tank game play possible.

most of the other tanks have a lot of skill and variation in terms of play style. hog for example is pick and sustain with hook tech, ball is a whole other category of gameplay, but orisa just stand and spam abilities with support focus on them
at least if the rest of their team isnt as good i can bully them with wrecking ball until they swap back to someone useful to their team and not armor horse, but on some maps its unfair to even walk out of spawn with horse standing there… you get cc’d back into the spawn room

I’m so tired of seeing her for so long.
I honestly wish they’d just gut her for a season or two.

So far this is the most accurate depiction of playing tank in OW2 I have seen:

Orisa is like the Soldier of the tank role, she is very safe and worry free to play. Hence why many players swap to her. Not that I agree with the panic picking philosophy.

I swear every time- enemy tank dies once
Out comes the horse, or sigma.

I think 5v5 vould be fine, they just need to make tanks strong enough for it but theure not willing to do that.
tbh if they tried most games would end in a draw from both tanks being support pocketed and sustaining the same zone
the advantage of counterpick is noticeable enough that it makes it easier for matches to “balance themselves”, but it isnt very fun
I used to be a tank main in OW1 as well, but I have up on the role fairly shortly after OW2 came out.
I feel as long as tanks are the most powerful heroes on the field and as long as there is only 1 tank then they are going to get hard focused by counters. It just doesn’t make sense not to. If you as a dps or support are worth 1 player and a tank is worth 1.5 players then playing a hero that denies the enemy tank value is a no brainer.
I do miss playing tank, but any time i do queue it I am very quickly reminded why I gave up on the role. I refuse to pay solo tank.

Tank was great in OW1 and also the 6v6 format made the game unique. I used to play 50% of the tank heroes but in OW2 i barely played them because of 5v5 format.

People always cry about Orisa, not realizing that she is the most durable tank that… cant do anything else. Orisa punishes the people who only shoot at the tank, because she can survive as long as the supports are alive.
There’s Flats video where he and enemy team’s tank stay at spawn, playing a game of CounterSwap2 for a good amount of time while the rest of their team play Junkertown.
It would be amusing if I wasn’t also a tank main outside of Arcade games.
And to stay more on the topic. I gave up on the game fairly quick once every time I played against another team, they’d swap to the current meta and stay on it throughout the game.
What they have done to my boy WB is criminal. Hes countered by most of the cast in OW2 in some way. But somehow, orisa is the one that has the resistance to cc. How does that even make sense?
Yeah, i was a tank main at the end of OW1 and gave up completely about 2 weeks into OW2

This is funny. In my matches Zarya doesn’t even counter Orisa properly, so it quickly becomes a mirror match until the end. Best “counter” I found was dive with Winston.

that is why wrecking ball is a fun counter pick for me but they force me to swap off of hog since theres nothing i can do against horse
I allowed myself to play support again and it feels so much better. I try to give my horses emotional support because they need it.
She clearly doesn’t have to do anything else.
If she did, she wouldn’t be in every game.
