Theres not many people that enjoy tanks yet tanks are a must pick

I think to be more precise, SHIELD tank. I see plenty of people who don’t mind playing D.va, Roadhog, or Zarya but it seems like no one likes to play Reinhardt, Orisa, or Winston.

Every role should be must pick. You should need a healer, a tank, and a DPS. Comps without all 3 are bad for the game.

It’s like that in every class-based game. That’s why WoW tanks get insta-queues into dungeons and raids while DPS and heals have to wait. It’s a thankless job that’s not very apparent when it’s done well and VERY apparent when it’s done poorly. People aren’t going to do it unless they genuinely enjoy it or have to to make the comp work.

I see plenty of Rein/Winston players at my rank. High Plat. So much so that, I myself as a Rein player, am playing the off tank role. Usually Zarya.

Ok but i hate tanking in this game but love soaking up damage in the rpgs i play. I doesn’t have to be this bad.

I love to tank. I am just a horrible shield tank.

I see that in GM and masters, too. I think it’s because the role of a main tank is much more straightforward (not easy, mind you) so people are more likely to be comfortable flexing onto it. You can’t really play Zarya or Wrecking ball on a whim and be even a little bit effective. You have to really use them correctly to avoid just feeding.

Weird. I’m the opposite. I hate tanking in RPGs but I enjoy it in this game. There’s much more art to it than science in Overwatch, whereas it’s the other way around in RPGs.

I have noticed this phenomenon also, only difference it that it’s either all the time or none at all. Around the same rank too. But if I group with higher or lower peoples they just vanish.

Have you noticed this also?

Im also in high plat and it feels like nobody wants to play main tank in my games (including myself)

I understand the yearning for more mechanical gameplay. Reinhardt and Orisa mostly feel like supports to me.

I like to tank whenever I actually play.

certainly…and me neither tbh. came back since a few days now but i kinda avoid ranked, since i actually care about winning there. and that means, that i might have to play tank. and ye some ow channels also stated that most tanks are bad. which is understandable imo. why would you learn something thats not fun for ya. and id assume that is most peeps.

so ye…start by giving rein a heavy knockback swing instead of charge id suggest. its a bad skill anyways. and its still partially bugged i hear? i mean…give the CC to the tank at least so they feel like they can do something about the stuff around em

I absolutely love tanking
