Tank queues are LONGER in mystery heroes

People are actually willing to play the role when it’s a mode where counterswapping is impossible, really makes you think.

Also you should try mystery heroes role queue if you haven’t, very fun mode. It’s all the fun parts of normal mystery heroes without the instantaneously losing the whole match to RNG just because they rolled triple hog parts

thats because you are less likely to get counter picked.

Or just less likely to get yelled at by their team, for their pick.

I used to tell people to swap in mystery heroes as a joke but weirdos started taking it seriously for some reason.

No, tank is just 1000% more fun when you aren’t forced to counterswap.

It’s both and then some. There are some drawbacks, but the performance anxiety is definitely lower, and the complete inability to counterswap is really nice.

I never thought about it much. I am not going to sit in queue just to destroy a mystery hero tank player, though. As easy as it would be…

The idea that 6v6 is immune to counterswapping or hard metas, is rather silly.

Well, for what it’s worth, it’s good feedback for how this might be useful.

Would allow Tank players to agree to play less common compositions, without downsides.

The idea that counterswapping isn’t worse in 5v5 than it was in 6v6 is rather silly

Perhaps.

But that’s because 6v6 barely ever had any meta flexibility.

What on earth are you talking about?

What are you talking about?

It was like Dive for 2 years, GOATs for 2 years, then DoubleBarrier for 2 years

With very little in between.

What region are you? Because they aren’t longer for me, NA PC. Tank was still the shortest queue for me.

The only time the meta got stale was when they stopped updating the game. In OW2 we get updates twice per season and it’s STILL stale.

Any high durability meta was stale.

Much less basically 4 years straight of high durability metas

So now you’re changing your answer to say "even though the meta changed, it was all ‘high durability’, so it was actually the same?

Come on man. By your logic OW2 has had the exact same meta since it launched.

The reason that counterswapping is less in 6v6 is that one person cannot change heroes to completely counter the entire role. With 2 tanks per team, the impact of counterswapping is reduced multiplicatively, making it more or less “soft countering”.

In 5v5…the presence of one tank is answered by the opposing tank completely nullifying them through one swap. The synergy between multiple tanks offsets the countering value of a single swap choice.

Those synergies also happen to be the problem area of 6v6, and it isn’t a panacea solution that will not contain a whole slew of its own problems, but the impact of counterswapping is definitely reduced, as is the performance anxiety/spotlight effect.

Metas are always, always, always going to occur, regardless of role numbers, however I don’t recall anyone trying to argue that 6v6 will eliminate metas.

I flex into RQMH, and pretty much always get tank. The math tells me that with 1 tank per match, it’s still a lot less popular than the other roles.

It’s certainly a lot more fun to play tank in that mode, and the fact that it’s not even a week old, it’s possible that people just don’t know yet, but the notion that it drastically changed anything seems erroneous to me.

Were you aware that 6 of the 8 Tanks only got 34% of the remaining playtime?

With Rein/Zarya taking up 66% of the Tank hero picks.
