Just had a thought.
Since you can’t have a “proper” tank with an aggro ability (would literally make it harder / impossible to target someone else) what if you had a tank that had an ability that worked to a similar effect, with a different way of getting there?
Using Adaptive Shields and Cardiac Overdrive as the basis, alongside manga/anime based on GOOD MMOs (screw you Sao, get bent) I might’ve had an idea.
No numbers here.
Sacrifice:
When Tank uses ability, creates AOE. Allies inside that AOE have a visual effect on them denoting the ability has been used. Probably something not very subtle, because with the visual clutter we already have, we need something that explicitly denotes that an ability with a large impact has been used.
The ability would immediately give the Tank an amount of armour (probably a large amount) and would have two ways it could go from there:

Every single ally in the AOE has DR to a specific percentage. All of the damage mitigated via that DR gets transferred as damage onto the Tank, hence the extra armour.

All of the damage taken for the duration of the ability gets transferred onto the tank.
This tank probably wouldn’t have a very strong means of attacking, and would be more like a wall that relies on their armour and supports to mitigate the damage that their allies are taking. Like Reinhardt, but not a lot of damage output.
Another idea for the kit could be a flat self heal burst, or a flat HPS DOT applied to self for a short period of time so they can keep themselves alive better to help the team.
Or, we could use the very first idea (AOE DR, DR mitigated damage transfers onto Tank) and combine it with an LOS version of the second idea. One ally in LOS gets complete DR, but all of that damage gets transferred onto the Tank. One AOE tank ability, one LOS tank ability.
Would probably be pretty slow and have a lot of armour, not a lot of attacking.
