If you saw the character screen how it looks now on PTR you would know that there is WAY too many DPS heroes compared to Tanks and Supports. And yes I know people already knew that, but now since Defense/Offense are now merged, and now since Symmetra is a Damage hero, you can see it more clearly.
Only 6 Tanks and 6 Supports, compared to 15 DPS Heroes. Even if you combine tanks/supports together, it is still less then the amount of Dps heroes there are with the ratio being 12:15
I truly believe at least the next 3 heroes, should be either all tanks, 2 tanks/1 support, or vise versa with 2 supports/1 tank. If the next 3 heroes are just tanks and supports, I feel it would be better then seeing a new DPS hero added on top of the 15 they already have. Which to be honest TECHNICALLY we got a new DPS hero in Symmetra⦠And to be honest it is getting kind of boring seeing the same tanks played and yes I would love a new tank.
i dont see how adding another tank will do anything that the existing tanks cant already do. or supports for that matter. no one plays tank/support so imo, the ratio is honest of what people want to play.
also, im not really into adding more heroes when there are just so many other problems that could be better addressed.
I donāt think need a new support for a while, we just got Brig and Moira (2 supports in a row), we need another tank first. Honestly all I personally want is for them to organize the hero select screen cuz right now it just looks messy. Maybe just rename defense to āspecialistā and keep them separate, then for the sake of LFG just classify them both as damage. The hero select screen could have labels like
uh, no. all you did was just rename one label. if anything, i would change ādamageā or something else since there are differences in the amount of ādamageā heroes doā¦
I agree with another tank being added, but not support. We donāt need a third support added in a row. We already have 3 main healers (Ana, Mercy, Moira) and 3 off healers (Zen, Lucio, Brig). Iām bad at math but thatās like 14 possible healer combinations or something, which is plenty.
I do say Iād like a tank added, but I honestly donāt know what they could add that isnāt already provided without it being op.
I think we need a new tank. What we need after we get a new tank probably depends on how well the tank performs its role but if we get a mechanically complex tank then I think we might be feeling a little less tank fatigue when you have to play your 15th tank game in a row.
Tanks are all fairly light on mechanical gameplay when compared to what is available in the damage and even support section.
I want a tank thatās just solid to play but is sickening when played well and everyone cheers, even the enemy because they aināt mad, they impressed.
I disagree, fixing the balance should be a priority. Either tanks or supports should be released for the next few heroes, and Iād be onboard with more supports.
Are you responding to what you quoted cuz it doesnāt seem like it lol. Iām also well aware I changed one label, didnāt intend to do anything more than that cuz they donāt need to do anything more than that. Just categorize them both as damage (cuz they are) and give them different sub-categories based on what they do. What is your idea? You didnāt describe it very clearly
I have to admit, when I saw the chars in the PTR, I laughed a bit, when you show it like that, seems a bit ridiculous.
Btw, all the guys telling āwe need more DPS than tank and supportsā, do we really need more DPS than tank+healers combined ?
I have to say, Iām a main tank, today, when I play, my mouse goes on Reinhardt without thinking about it, since itās the basically the only main tank playable atm. Do DPS players have the same habit ?
There are actually some Hybrid Heroes we could tranfer over from DPS. Itās just we seem to have a hard on finalizing the change. (We Basically has to get Devs to admit Sym wasnāt a Support Hero but a DPS.)
Thatās because there other classifications for heroes, they donāt really outright tell us. Like the Difference Between a Dive tank and a Off Tank.
Some of these classifications in my opinion might be flawed.
For example: Old Sym, Torb and Bastion filled the same classifications as Deployments hero. (But that type of hero, doesnāt really work for a game like Overwatch.)
We need to really end two types of classifications and split up the hero into new roles.
For example: If we gave Bastion to heal himself instantly by switching modes, we might be closer to classified him as a Tank. And Torb could be reworked to be more closer to a Support. Same with Mei and Sombra.
In the end if done right the ratio would end up look like 8:11:8 by the end of the month.
Which would be better next month if they release a new tank or Support.
And 2 years from now, we could look like this 11:11:11.
But honestly it would not be bad if they released a Dps next month. Because 8:12:8 is not really bad either.
Just the current ratio we are in right now. 6:15:6
If we get another Dps it will be pretty bad right now.
