Maybe the role is hot trash or maybe these two are currently overtuned but for the love of God pick something that isn’t D.va or Sigma, like I get D.va is overtuned due to too much armor and Sigma is simply just sigma but there are other tanks who are good such as Orisa, Wrecking ball, Winston, Junker Queen, and Ramattra. Hell even Mauga is viable if you actually play around cover. You don’t need to play the korean e-girl or schizophrenic dutch man 24/7 guys.

Given how overbuffed hitscan is, tanks don’t have a choice but to play sig.
Nerf soldier, sojourn and widow, you’ll see people stop playing sig.

Sort of agree and disagree, tanks who are resource heavy such as Reinhardt are terrible but tanks that aren’t as resource reliant such as ball are good.
Widow sure but Soldier 76 was nerfed and is fine right now and Sojourn is pretty much a worse pick compared to soldier 76 and Ashe most of the time since they’re simply better at applying the DPS passive. Don’t think nerfing one form of damage is going to make sigma any less viable since he’s good into projectile heroes such as Hanzo, Junkrat, Torbjorn, and Zenyatta. He’s been a dominant META pick for six months at this point so something’s got to give.
I’m actually seeing a lot of JunkerQueen, Ramattra, Doomfist, and Orisa. And because I’m a D.Va main, I’m also seeing quite a bit of Zarya.
It’s not anywhere near as restrictive as you are saying. Even in the upper eschelon Doom and JQ are getting played a lot.
In GM this season the top 5 tanks in order are: Sigma, Doom, D.Va, JQ, and Zarya.
In top 500 total a week ago it was: Sigma, JQ, D.Va, WB, Doomfist.
There does seem to be a lot of diversity right now in tanks. Only Roadhog, Reinhardt, and Mauga seem to be suffering at all ranks.

Mauga is playable but only if the person playing him knows what they’re doing, if you stay out in the open you’re just going to blow up but playing from cover and poking will get you some good results from what I’ve seen. Still has one of the best tank ultimates in the game as well which does help his viability a bit.
I mean why wouldn’t you play the 2 most unkillable tanks right now. Dva has the 3 second matrix AND she got the global HP buff (which she should’ve been excluded from) and sigma has, lord have mercy, I’ll list it off:
- The best shield in the game
- A personal eat that gives him shields
- A stun that literally lasts over a second
- High damage
- Also got the global hp buff (which he shouldn’t have gotten)
- One of the best ults in the game
Sigma is literally a jack of all trades, master of all. The hero is stupid. The only thing he’s missing is mobility, but who needs that when you’ve got the 30 other damn boxes checked off.
And god forbid if someone plays him on circuit royale or havana, like every bot tank player does. He’s unkillable.

I agree, but he’s pretty much the least picked tank period. My point being actually diversity of tanks is actually pretty good right now with a few exceptions, one of which is Mauga.

I see all the tanks played. Yeah Sigma is what i often see but it’s not new.
It feels that way when your tank pick is chosen for you.

Cause new patch ruined the role as. Well as support role so people are picking the ones who are good weather it’s DVA or Sigma or Zen and Moira.
I’ve actually seen more Winston than normal. Not seeing as much as others, but more than I usually do.
All I see is DVa, Fist, and Ball. Sometimes Winston. Basically dive or you lose.
Ball is not a very good tank right now, hes got decent survivability yes but unless hes in a coordinated team hes kinda useless
i still see doomfist all the time. that hero will always be popular so you forgot to put that hero on your list.
a lot of doomfist mains want him back on the dps roster and yea that would be cool but can you imagine the tank population numbers then lol… dps queues will really get longer

Yeah diversity tends to disappear when a handful of heroes are broken with others being awful to the point of being actually unplayable.
Unfortunately most heroes in this game are currently unplayable thanks to the last patch.
People just play what is playable which makes the game stale in the span of a week.
I probably see doomfist the most in my qp games. But I see a lot of tank diversity. Ow2 as a whole has been so much better with many tanks being good choices compared to ow1, where it was the same 2 tanks for the meta, and not much else.
