I don’t think this rock paper scissor thing applies to tank battles at the moment that much, you can go the tanks you want to play and still be playable, the thing is, it’s dps counterpicking tank, and since it’s 2 counters it’s really hard to do something even if you switch to someone else (you were going hog, they go reaper but other one goes sym so you get counterpicked as dva if you switch) it’s really hard for tank alone to switch and game goes on, no your whole team has to switch too, really hard to even do something unlike dps just swapping and that’s it, making the tank buffs strong against tank but not other roles. If there’s an active swapper in the enemy team, defeat is pretty much guarenteed. Instead of just tweaking numbers other things has to change
I want to play in these games where my dps ever swap to counter instead of just playing genji or cass and getting hard countered.

DVA does a pretty good job because her defence matrix blocks essentially everything he does and she can just fly at his face spamming missiles and winky face to delete him.
It has always been winnable. But it’s not fun. And it’s not without your whole team screaming at you that you’re throwing.
at least you are getting countered by 4 players not 5, that’s still sad tho

counterpicks rarely happen in low elo or unranked but its all over the place in gold and above. alot of us have a counterpick chart to reference what swaps need to happen to deny certain strategies or even ultimates. Even supports often get swapped if for instance we want a lucio speed boost at the start

Bad news buddy, but Gold is “low ranks”!! (I’m there). Counter-picking happens even in bronze. Less common but it is there. By silver you are already getting counter-picked by 2-3 members of the team.
Try playing hog and you will instantly see Ana+kiri/zen/lw on the other team, even in bronze (at least Ana in bronze). Try playing DVa and most likely you will see Zarya or DVa even in silver.
Counter-picking is a necessity not just to win, but to be able to enjoy the game without becoming completely frustrated. They go DVa and you are Mauga? Enjoy hitting E and facing the full 3s of it into DVa matrix or Ram block or Sig suck+shield and getting naded/slept. This even happens in bronze.
revert the role queue. Was a stupid design anyway. Remove tanks and heals and just make everyone a dps with the heal passive. Done.

You will see those at any level really… Zen/Kirko/Bap/Ana are like the go to supports.

In unranked, counterpicks happen multiple times per match in 100% of my matches with no exceptions. Been this way for years.
