Symmetra should counter double shield

Because niche characters in a game like OW are just genuinely dumb. We’ve got so many heroes that can do niche character’s job better than they can, or even worse there just isn’t a need for said niche hero ever in the first place.

Except there’s the thing. She counters them, however she can’t do it alone and requires team support to do anything of value with how fragile she is. Whereas release Brig was a literal one woman army anti-dive.

Yea she was… Then the dev team followed her back into a dark ally on a Friday night and kept nerfing her until she surrendered all her Pachimari plushies. Tragic.

i dont have any problem with maining a character but if ur just in it to play the character for fun thats why we have qp and arcade. Competitive experiences are for people who have fun winning, not playing a character. And niche is not weak. Sym is op on lijang. Mei is op on hanamura first. When you have characters like sym and mei who feel awesome and unique on a few maps but a mei meta creates repetitive obnoxious gameplay.

Thats just false. Sym is a must pick on lijang. Its actually impossible to move on them on garden. Also sym doesnt counter double sheild. Double sheild doesnt stack sheilds anymore, they poke and use cover to spread out and roll the rein or pokers

i really think it should as double sheild needs a counter

Ok? So does she counter them or not? Which is it? Because it can’t be both.

Except nobody is asking for these heroes to be meta, they’re asking for them to not be incredibly useless outside of said situations. It’s stupidly unfair when other heroes get to work on every single damn map but one of your favorites is stuck playing the map guessing game.

And Mei’s dominance on those kinds of 2 CP maps is partially due to how terribly designed they are.

So I said that sym shouldn’t be reworked to counter double sheild like the op said, but rn she does not counter double shield at all.

Lastly in a competitive environment u want fresh and engaging gameplay. Sym and mei dont bring that. Some characters, like sym as well, have a skill cap way lower than Ashe or tracer. If u want ur favorite character to be playable on all maps that’s not good for competitive enviornments.

Honestly does she even counter anything at this point after her nerfs?

And nor does having to play the same 6~8 characters every single game because Blizzard can’t balance for crap but I don’t see you complaining about that.

Symmetra is by no means low skill though :skull: She’s at the point where only pros and hardcore onetricks get value out of her, and even then it’s only due to her whole Teleporter gimmick which once the surprise factor is gone it’s much less valuable.

Okay then explain to me why you can play the majority of other heroes on nearly every map without much issue, but when Symmetra is played on a map that isn’t KoTH you suddenly lose your mind. There are some heroes that function exactly as you described yet say absolutely nothing about.

Change her primary to restore her own shields instead of feeding her ammo, with the ability to overcharge up to 200. So a “maxed” Sym would sit at 100 HP/200 shields. Gives her sustain/survivability, a real reason to avoid charging her(ammo is a non factor) and gives her a little bit of that shield generator feel back. If you’re going to give her a shield niche, we gotta go all in here.

There is a difference between heroes having broader and just outright having MORE roles… and Sym.

Sym is like ‘‘By design, I am only good against 2-3 heroes at the cost of being a free kill for almost everyone else. Oh and I can do a 1 time point A cheese I guess’’ and thats something thats clearly isnt on the rest of the rooster - again by design.

Giving her a set of broader roles within a cohesive is exactly what she should have gotten on her rework - not this failwork that made her kit a mess of disjointed parts whose half dont work with her intended range.

Hmm, Allow her turrets to stick to barriers and damage them. They can’t be shot at by the enemy team when stuck. The tank has to drop the barrier to lose them which they then drop to the ground and leave the hero open for a second, plus makes them back off, as when they drop to the ground they are still doing damage.

She should be a counter to double shield. It’s still ridiculous that they nerfed her damaged after the beam changes. She was actually USEFUL then. Heaven forbid she ever be that.
