Symmetra Rework Idea

Keep Symmetra in Support category and remove photon barrier as a basic ability and shield generator and teleporter ultimate. Before you flame read the rest bellow to better understand!!!

For her Microwave Gun I would remove the ramping up effect, but instead I would increase its range to 10-12 and it’s damage to 80. I would also remove the 0.5 seconds of uneeded line of sight or reduce it to 0.2 seconds. Make the number of hits per second to 5 from 4 (but not increasing damage). Add a 25% movement speed slow effect.

For her Photon Projector gun increase speed to 12.5 meters per second (from 10 m/s), reduce maximum charge time to 1.5 seconds (from 2), and increase ammo cost to 5-25.

For Symmetra’s Sentry Turrets reduce casting time to 1 second (from 1.4seconds), and increase the number of hits to kill/hp to 2.

Her teleporter will now become a basic ability, defulty bound to “E” on PC. Increase hitbox size of teleporter but not visual size. Symmetra now has to manually place both teleporter (similar to placement of sentry turrets) and one is not bound to respawn room. Reduce health of teleporter to 200 shield/50 health, increase casting range by 1 meter, and slightly reduce cast time. Ability has 2 charges with a 15 second recharge, once both teleporters are placed the teleporter s become active, once both are active and one is destroyed so will the other and 1 charge will be restored and in addition charges will only recharge once both are placed or destroyed. Players can also teleport through each end of the teleporter but there is a 2 second delay in which you cannot use it again, also the 6 teleports will remain the same. Allow ally players to see the teleporter icon on the map, as well as add a setting in options to increase or decrease the size of this icon.

Give Symmetra a new passive ability called “Shield Generator”. Symmetra emits a aura around her in a 15 meter radius which gives her allies 15 shield to their health pool. The aura does not require line of sight although in order for the shields to recharge Symmetra must be within range and in line of sight. This does not effect Symmetra herself. If any abilities such as Sombra’s EMP remove shields you may not gain or recharge addition shield until the duration or effect is over.

Her new ultimate will be called “Photon Barrier”! Symmetra throws a barrier shield around a ally with a 35 meter range (line of sight is required) and moves at a speed of 70 meters per second, that will protect them by giving them 800 temporary shield to their health pool as well as immunity to movement imparing effects for 6 seconds. This ability will function similarly to Sara’s particle barriers, Sombra’s EMP will still hack the player but not remove the shield. Requires 1000 ultimate charge and gains 1% every 2.0 seconds.

These changes will make her viability and reliability better but will require a higher skill cap then before. These changes will not be overwhelming at lower ranks but at higher ranks will see much more play with new play styles such as the teleporter allowing flanking or rushing to choke or on point while on defense. With these changes she will fit better into the support category while still being the only non-healing support and providing much utility and some damage. Her Sentry Turrets and Photon Projecter/Energy Ball recieved a overall buff, also she will still remain better on Defense due to her able to set up, but her viability on Attack will greatly increase!

With her photon projecter is the 10-12 range the lock on and off range?

No, I did not write it but I would have removed that effect. I just put 10 to 12 meters because I was not sure.

I do like the idea of Teleporter being an ability rather than an ult, and judging by what we know about her rework right now that seems to be the case,

Thanks, I do think so also I put my perspective on it. What about the other changes? The only thing I fear is now she will be weaker to armour.

I do want something done with her turrets, they need to be made much stronger (defensively or offensively) or they simply need to be removed and replaced with something better, her turrets are very weak and easily destroyed and once the enemy team makes a push Sym is close to useless, her turrets are her biggest weakness.
