Symmetra New Ultimate/ HP

So i’m having a lot of fun on Petra with Symmetra right now. She can be very effective in Deathmatch when she has her shield generator up and a well placed nest of turrets.
However, I am concerned how her new Ult will be of any benefit in Deathmatch and with the Shield Generator gone will she have her existing HP and Shield of 200 or will it be 275 as if she has her own personal shield generator. Or does she build shield from doing damage like Doomfist? Can any of the devs shed some light on this for me, please?

It sounds like she’s just going to keep the 200 that she has now. The ultimate could be useful in deathmatch if you stayed next to it and weaved in and out

It hasn’t been confirmed if she’s getting an HP increase.

That’s never even been suggested by the team so I really doubt thats going to be a thing.

It can affect the match in a way that’s benefitial to symmetra
She herself can juke on the sides of it while dealing damage with primary while others will have a longer fights which would compensate for her immobity and give her more time to have someone cross her or even attract people to the shield gen

That’s a good question.

If put in a clever spot (her new proposed ult) it means the enemies won’t be able to shoot past it-- towards her, or each other. Which could be interested. Weaving in and out of it she can probably bait people to a certain part of the map, or away from another.

Although to be honest, I am excited about everything in her rework EXCEPT the ultimate-- it sounds boring, and underwhelming to use, easy to work around… but who knows, we will have to see.

This is literally the only thing I’m afraid of. Every defense hero atm has either sustain, escape, or protection abilities. Sym will have none of those things that she can use in a fight. Teleporter will not be a reliable escape like Widow’s grapple. And her ult wouldn’t help in the same way as a Mei wall.

I just don’t see how she will compete with the rest of her Defense buds if she has none of those things and also 200 HP. How do they expect her to stay alive without something like her current E or Shield Gen. I’m not talking about just DM I’m talking about in general.

I suppose if she is quick enough she can use tele to get to high ground to escape tho i guess it depends how the tele works.

The problem is the only frame of reference to this is her current form. It takes 1-2 seconds to place.

If that stays the same then you have to take time to find out where you want the exit to go, it will take 1-2 seconds to put down, then you have to press a separate button to go through it.

This is exactly my issue with the teleporter for mobility.

Personally I think it would have been better having her existing photon
barrier being able to stop like Orisa’s Halt when you clicked it again. Then you could have manoeuvred around that for a bit.
I really like the turret changes and the primary and secondary fire changes. I just hope primary keeps its existing hit box.

I have two ideas for passives:

Improved Shields
Symmetra’s shield HP begins regenerating after 1.5 s instead of 3 s

Or

Photon Shields
Symmetra gains +25 Shield HP. Teammates who stay within 10 m of her also gain +25 Shield HP which disappears after leaving her aura for 3 seconds (Like her current Shield Generator effect).

AoE shield generation gets round the need for the existing SG and makes people less likely to complain if she’s on attack.

Even before she was reworked we knew she would have issues with her survivability. Funny the Devs didn’t. :upside_down_face:
