Oh, my. Beam width on Symmetra for a hitscan like weapon is quite generous it seems.
Is it me or am i just blind? Because i seriously CAN NOT see any difference between live symmetra and ptr symmetra beam O.O
She totally feels and looks the same to me.
Looking at the images literally side by side in a photo editor shows it is smaller even by scaling the dots a bit, but its not that much compared to how huge it is away from S76 hitscan.
Oh okay haha, well it wasn’t such a huge nerf then? Because i played her on ptr in practice range and she still works fine imo.
Like i could still hit the bots with my beam pretty easily.
Yeah, with how gracious the hit width is on her beam from this compared to regular hitscan I cannot see this being a nerf of much at all.
…It’s a hitscan-like weapon…?
S:76 shoots bullets that do predictable damage, he can crit, and has a decently long range. Sym has a beam which does not crit and has to play close to her target and consistently track in order to ramp up. Their weapons are nothing alike.
I don’t have a strong opinion on the beam hit registry for Symmetra (old or new) but comparing it to Soldier’s gun is a weird move, IMO
It means there is no travel time compensation that has to be done. This is what hitscan means.
Yeah i totally agree with you! She’s still the same only her beam is smaller. Honestly i don’t understand why ppl got so upset?
They changed Symmetra.
That’s all you have to know. That’s why people are upset.
No matter what they do they will piss of some subset of the Symmetra community
It’s basically the same as Mercy
Yeah but before they lash out so much they should try the ptr for themselves.
You’re right, but they won’t, and even if they do they will still complain.
Such are the forums.
Well, feel is going to be hard to prove. Some small tests like this sort of prove to me Zarya/Symmetra will be some of my DPS choices that dont’ need to be hitscan since i like the tracking.
personally, i don’t care much about the nerf itself
neither the damage reduction
i feel like zarya’s is more concerning, honestly, because her actual output got chunked
the part that concerns me about this, however, is how fast this went through, while other heroes… just… don’t
-shrug-
it took them months to fix one bug for her
now a year for another
then two “buffs” to her charge rate, where it wasn’t even really necessary
their priorities just seem all over the place
It would be interesting to see the priority on releases. Really it would be interesting to see the philosophy on balance as well. I feel like they mentioned somewhere in that they feel not every hero has to be viable in all circumstances.
In paraphrasing, its okay for some heroes to be situational which seems true in a way and probably the best for the game. I’ll probably run Reinhardt into King’s Row and Winston into Gibraltar every time.
What about the damage nerf? The beam size nerf is logical, it makes her more skilled to play as. But the damage nerf? Why??? She finally did her job as a dps and they nerf her because she did her job? Is that logical?
They nerfed D.Va for being able to peel greatly with DM so i mean… (unless you believe dm was broken because it negates ultimates, that’s either reactionary or down to the person who is ulting honestly)
They nerf Sombra… Nuff said.
lmao sombra barely has over 1% overall pickrate, sym has just under it
their priorities are in check for sure…
Its hard to know how much fractional damage Symmetra was doing in the past before the beam bug fix to her and zarya. They said people with good aim would not notice much, but most people are not that. The 8% loss overall might be sufficient to offset the bug fix to correct for partial damage.
At the same time when you are zapping tanks and shield health pools 195 vs 180 doesn’t matter much even 130 → 120. Alternate fire is arguably better for squishes as its easier to hit with at closer range and is burst damage compared to trying to ramp up primary fire damage with the chance of missing.
