Symmetra 3.0 is no skill

Why do people still say this? Do they not see how much her kit has changed and how much her skill ceiling has raised? I still get the “symmetra takes no skill LMAO” in chat and it makes me wonder whether or not they play the same game as me. Symmetra definitely became a harder hero, I would place her right below Tracer genji and widow, but then again I play her in high masters so its harder for Sym compared to the lower ranks so not everyone will agree with me.

Because they complained about auto-aim when it was a squishy, immobile hero with a melee range weapon slowly frying them, and they’ll complain about it now that it’s on 30 HP entirely immobile turrets with far worse damage and even shorter range.

That said, sentry turrets as DPS tools are awful.

People will always hate turret builders, period. It’s one part of her kit, albeit the lion’s share for damage in many of the games, thus the hate.

There is a small but vocal contingent who think every character should be built like McCree, Ana, Genji, Tracer, etc… anything less is a travesty and not a “real” eSport…

The irony, irony is Sym being called ‘brain dead’ by people who know an enemy Sym is present but insist on wandering in blindly into likely turret controlled areas… and get mad about it… ditto for people hating on Torb… you know he’s there, but you insisted on running wildly onto the point anyhow… and yet the Torb player is the brain dead one…

people cry regardless of the turrets … they are ridicolous
next time just tell him “Swich Winston”

Tbh i feel less skillful playing 3.0 its all turret bombs and positioning. Blocking a rein ult reactivly with my E barrier felt alot more skillful to me than turret bombing even if i manage to get a triple with the bomb lol.

TBH I disagree that her skill ceiling is higher, since she is not a bit more forgiving to get value/ Getting value as old symm and optimal turret placements was hard, and getting value outside of noodlebeam range was really just impossible, and sometimes engaging people with beam required a strategy so you dont get negged while walking their way

Compared to what exactly

Exactly 2.0 had to plan her engagement PERFECTLY or she got splattered across the wall. Her new ult feels less skillful its useful sure and the value it gives you know 100% but meh.

I can see what your getting at, lol now im abit confused.

I had someone complain about me in chat just like this the other week when Paris came out. He kept calling me “no skill cancer” the entire match and telling me to “pick a character that requires skill”. But he didn’t realize his teammates were destroying the turrets for him at every turn; I was relying on my gun far more than my turrets. And then I got potg with no turrets at all, only me tracking the enemy team, and then he immediately left the match ¯\(ツ)

Of course new symm is more low risk, low reward. Yes new symm to me somehow has a lwoer reward unless you perform a SICK tp bomb and it kills 3 squishies, but then again it didnt feel satisfying as before

I agree that felt so rewarding, fun, satisfying and it took skill.

The skill ceiling is higher, because there is more you can do effectively with the kit meaning more to lose, and there is the primary also.

To be really honest, whenever I play Symmetra now I feel like a headless chicken spamming turrets and right clicks at the enemy. What’s even the point of her primary?

Please, give me Sym 2.0 back :sob:

I mean, definitely you can do MORE, but it’s not harder and requires les thought, also old symm really had more to lsoe, as she had large wndows of low value otherwise

It doesn’t take less thought, I disagree on that. You have 3 turrets not 6 now. And you have to aim with them at any distance, somewhat finely in some cases, and the plays with are much more substantial. If anything I’d say the skill floor was lowered a bit, but ceiling raised too. People are confusing these points.

Exactly. The turrets are FAR more responsive and have higher effective range, so you need less thought to place them. Also old symm required you to know every map and optimal tp/ gen locations. Also turret climbing, and shield dancing was a thing

Her turrets 100% take less thought and skill, before you had to keep an eye on the kill feed to know when it was safe to go set your turrets back up without getting caught out and put in the ground.

2.0 deserved throwable turrets to see how big an impact it made and given how reliant 3.0 is on her turrets we can safely assume it would of been a huge impact.

Literally everything in her kit takes more skill but yeah, you will find stupid people everywhere.
You can make the most amazing clutch play with photon barrier and have 80% tracking accuracy and they will still say “LUL pressing M1 hero”.

Best comeback “Wow someone is salty, cant aim mate? sens to low, give it a check”

KEK. Perfection.

i cant even remember how many times tracers blink, or genji’s have dashed into a web of turrets at 2% hp, ulted, died and spent the rest of the match cursing sym’s very existance.
