I was thinking that maybe she could still have the photon barrier but it could instead deflect everything and would only last 3secs. This would be hilarious against a pharah or road hog. And would require more gamesense in ult prediction and would also require some geometric skill. That’s my idea. What are yours?
Yer no i dont think the rework went in the right direction in many ways but i do like her ult its powerful allows you to turn a fight in your teams favor even when ur in spawn it just needs a lower charge amount because although it is very powerful it has 0 kill potential so it should have a lower cost
I personally think the barrier does have one of the best actual strategic potentials as you can section of a tiny corner of the objective and cap it while you can fire of at the enemy while invulnerable. It’s just a bit awkward as a DPS to have a no DPS.
The problem with her ult is there’s no debuff when enemies passes through it and Winston can still dps ignoring the barrier. It’s as Tesla cannon is pretty much the destroyer of Symmetra kit as whole especially since it goes through her ultimate so it’s pointless and I thought Jeff made it so all attacks are ignored / blocked.
I dont think making her a dps was the correct move either they should of buffed her primary reduced the damage of her turrets buffed their hp and given her the ability to control her barrier better turning her into a support that acts like a main tank in creating space and providing cover and area control and give her a bubble shield ultimate that spawns all her turrets inside of the bubble and grants shielding to allies inside of 75 shield hp
It would be interesting if the turrets only slowed enemies but her primary was far better. I do however like the cool down teleporter, though I wish it didn’t take forever to deploy.
I love her tp but i still think her being able to fill the role of a Orisa or Rein with a stationary shield she can move forward on command would give her a CLEAR role which is something she still lacks and for a hero to be truly viable they have to have a clear benefit they bring to the team at all times
People are braindead when it comes to the sheer power that a cross zone barrier provides. So what if someone walks through, get on the other side, only one team can shoot through it and the other cant, the power is amazing.
I didn’t say it was underpowered, I just suggested a directly offensive ult.
the issue with her ultimate:
- it’s a non-damaging ultimate - and symmetra is a damage dealer that does unreliable damage
- things like melee and winston’s gun (her biggest counter) still go through it
- her old on cooldown photon barrier gave symmetra the survivability she needed, but now it’s removed and they didnt give her an alternative ability to protect herself.
I would be happy with a very small buff to primary and secondary.
her ult by itself is fine… it’s kinda similar to moira’s - it’s more of a “charges fast and is disposable”. but she lacks any consistent reliable damage with her usual kit and that “E ability now moved to ultimate” deleted the tiniest amount of survivability and she’s WAY too squishy now. she’s easier to kill than a zen

This is where I think a shorter teleporter deploy time would be appropriate as a retreat mechanic not only for her but for the team. Currently it’s too slow to escape grav with teleporter unless you literally place it the second zarya presses Q.
also it spawns oddly (sometimes in front of you, sometimes right where you stand [imo it should always deploy at your feet]), it interactions with fences is straight up terrible, you can’t cancel it after deploying (you should be able to press E again to destroy the tele), also it’s dumb when you try to tp as torb and it ends up destroying your deployed turret or destroys your transloactor as sombra (because the stupid logic behind the interact key) and yea there’s the painfully slow deployment time - all those fixes should be considered as QoL changes
Adding new heroes doesn’t fix old heroes. If anything it makes the old worse. I’m of the personal opinion they shouldn’t add anymore new heroes until they fix the issues with current ones. But if that’s just me then whatever.
My god are the tp placement mechanics awful. Is her placement mechanic the same as reaper’s? I think it is but it feels a lot flimsier for some reason.
Again, those arent issues with her ult, they are your playstyle preferences. Her old ult wasnt offensive either, and was WAY less powerful than her current one.
Now THIS is a real issue, those mechanics are awful.
I just think her ult needs a slight retuning is all.
Enemies shouldn’t be able to just walk through it for free. A heavy slow while touching the wall would totally suit Symmetra’s kit and allow it to have much more versatile uses. If used on the point, it’s effective CC. If used to stop an engage, the enemy’s engage is slowed, setting up kills for her teammates on the easy targets passing through the wall.
