Sym & Moira beam weapon tweaks/buffs

  1. Symmetra’s primary fire beam needs its range increased from 10m to at least 12m or even 16m like Zarya’s. This would make her beam a mid-range option much like Roadhog’s secondary fire, instead of being almost never used due to her secondary fire orbs being far more effective within 0m-8m range (and the 8m-10m range where the orbs start to become less effective than the beam is too restricted and feels frustrating/unreliable because the beam will often go in and out of range).

  2. Moira’s secondary fire damaging beam’s large hitbox just rewards laziness more than anything else, especially with how great the beam’s range is. It should simply have the same hitbox as hitscan weapons or Zarya’s beam, which would allow buffing either its damage or its healing resource recovery rate (and that should be good since Moira seems to be underpicked currently), though probably not its personal healing rate as that’s already pretty good.

Moira’s beam does not lock on.

It actually works exactly like Zarya’s beam, except you can’t see the beam until it’s hitbox collides with an enemy’s hitbox. Moira’s beam hitbox is a small bit larger, so I will say that.

Also, the beam seems to lock on because the animation of the beam attaches to the middle of the enemy, like old Symmetra, but that is how the animation was made to be. If Moira’s beam’s hitbox breaks from the enemy, it will stop the atttack.

Symmetra was able to hold the beam as long as the enemy was in line of sight back before 3.0.

Moira can’t do that.

Other than that, yeah, Symmetra’s bean needs a range buff.

Why are people still saying Moira’s beam has lock on months after it was disproven?

lock on=easier to stick to a target then it is to break off the target.
old sym primary, mercy beams=lock on.
moira beam= big hitbox, animation that bends to the target.

Because they still get her in their deathcam all those months until now and they have to blame something except themselves, you see.

Pretty sure Symmetra’s primary is bugged right now. I cannot find the Reddit post for the life of me (I’ve been trying), but essentially it ended up bugged when they fixed the M1 spam exploit that was on PTR. When they fixed it, they “fixed it” in a way that unintentionally made it take almost double the time to charge up.

Just take her to the practice range and mess around with it. Pretty sure it is taking longer than it should.

Yeah let’s not further nerf Moira, when she didn’t really need her “bug fix” nerf in the first place

Ah, you guys are right Moira’s secondary fire isn’t a lock-on, simply a large hitbox. So i am just saying to make the hitbox the same as other hitscan weapons or a beam like Zarya’s. That + a damage/healing resource recovery buff would put Moira in a better place.

As for Symmetra there is also an issue with her primary fire beam being blocked by terrain (particularly corners) as if it had a large hitbox, yet there is no such hitbox on enemy characters. That issue is pretty obvious when you compare it with Zarya’s beam shooting around corners, Zarya’s beam crisply goes through the corner without being blocked.

No no no. Sym might need a slight buff but no to moira. Do not buff moira at all. I repeat do not buff moira !

i completely agree that sym’s primary fire does need a bit better range

Moira as a support needs her weapon exactly the way it is. She needs to leech life to heal her team, so leave her in peace.

Stop homogenising heroes. Symmetra has already lost her lock-on beam.

But, aye, buff Symmetra’s primary.

Don’t disagree with the damage part being fine as is, but having such a large hitbox on her beam only rewards laziness and makes the hero less interesting to play. It is already unique as a beam weapon due to its long range and personal healing effect. So i think it would be better to make the beam’s hitbox the same as Zarya’s and buff its healing resource recovery rate which would help Moira overall as a support (as depending on the situation she can find herself out of healing resource quickly, with difficulties to regenerate it when enemies are often behind barriers).

It takes 2 seconds per charge level and 4 total seconds to reach max charge.

As a Moira main, I wouldn’t mind tightening her beam’s hit box a bit for higher DPS and/or biotic energy regen increase. It is pretty generous as it currently is.

Its visually(!) locks to the target and there are no better words for it.
Or you can say Moira has a Target-seeker life-draining weapon.

I hope they nerf moira’s secondary fire hitbox just so that dps will stop whining that she takes no skill lol
