⚡ [Sym] Charge Primary off Lasers/Secondary

Basically, allow Symmetra to charge her primary fire, off lasers and secondary fire:

Symmetra

Primary Fire

  • Charge mechanic is based on damage dealt, instead of seconds of damage.
  • 160 damage to go from stage 1 damage to stage 2 damage
  • 240 more damage to from stage 2 damage to stage 3 damage
  • Damage dealt by secondary attacks and laser sentries also adds to this damage dealt mechanic.
  • Damage dealt uses damage numbers before mitigation by armor.

Posted this earlier today, and realized I hadn’t fleshed out the idea enough to work.

Here is a more elaborate version.

Basic concept, Symmetra can use both her Primary fire, Secondary fire, and Laser Sentries to charge her Primary fire.

Not sure whether is should be affected by damage boosts. But that might be good too.

They should get rid of this charging mechanic.

Set at 120 DPS and give her 18 meters range.

I kinda like the idea of promoting Symmetra use her entire equipment set.

Also her secondary and sentries inherently have more range.

But she will be at full potential every time, sentries deal about 60% of Symm damage right now

Then adjust the numbers.

Her sentries and secondary are the only good thing in her kit right now.

I was thinking adjust how much sentries/secondary contributes to the primary charge.

Or just increase the primary charge numbers.

Why? Zarya has a 90 DPS start beam and goes to 190 DPS

Symm has a 60 DPS start beam and goes to 180 DPS

Also Symmetra has to aim to get charge Zarya has to expose herself in a safe bubble.

Huh, that might be in interesting primary mechanic.

18m range on stage 1
14m range on stage 2
12m range on stage 3

Then let’s just make her primary exactly the same as Zarya’s and be done with it.

Zarya goes to 190 DPS after she gets charge, and that immediately begins depleting… her average then would be way lower than Sym, even as a DPS… 90 dps maybe, but 120?

Zarya’s bubble is a fraction of time with a fairly long cooldown… Sym has a regenerating shield mind you, something a lot of folks forget…

They are too stonk [sic] on their own. buffing her primary fire would make her even more oppressive and annoying than she is now.

so, basically zarya half-charged beam with moira’s range and nothing good and unique in it. Nah

Photon Projector

• Magazine size increased from 70 to 100
• Charge up / down time reduced from 2 seconds to 1 second
• Fixed a bug where Photon Projector’s beam would get caught on corners / around doorways

Sentry Turrets

• Sentry Turret count increased from 3 to 6
• Sentry Turret HP increased from 30 to 50
• Sentry Turret range increased from 10 m to 12 m (Matches Photon Projector)
• Sentry Turret damage reduced from 50 to 20
• Sentry Turrets prioritize Symmetra’s target if Photon Projector is being used on them or they are attacking her

With these changes Symmetra is promoted to use her entire kit more. I personally really love the idea of this interaction between her sentries and her primary fire where they attack with her exactly like Torb’s turret currently does with him on PTR.
Additionally I really miss having 6 sentries. I’d rather have a mix of some quantity and some quality but not too much of both hence why I say 20 damage so it’s a slight nerf to Sentry’s damage.

Additionally reducing Teleporter’s deployment time from 2 seconds to 1 second would be incredibly nice. That would address just about all her issues.

Her primary needs to be reworked, it’s abysmal at the moment and literally useless. The only time it’s ever used is to finish off a 5hp target.
