(1) Scale her beam length with her beam’s power level
-buff level 1 charge beam to 15 meters
-reduce beam range to 14 meters at level 2, and to 12 meters at level 3
-to compensate for new effective range nerf charge levels from 60/120/180 to 60/115/170
(2) Buff secondary fire from 120 to 125
-allows her to double tap 250 hp heroes
-can now oneshot 250 hp heroes thru Bap’s Amp Matrix
(3) Buff her turrets on console from 30 to 34 dps (pc damage)
-only 30 dps really kills her combo potential. a lot
(4) Casting ult will immediately replenish all of her missing shield hp
-very situational yes, but it might save your life at times where you can be killed right as your barrier is mid cast
just my takes on the matter, i wouldn’t recommend changing anything else
I’d rather just have a static beam length for consistency.
She already struggles with inconsistency and a changing beam length would be another tacked on thing she has to manage. The whole point of a wind up beam is that it gets stronger - not weaker. It would make more sense if her beam got longer the more she got charged. You know rewarding better play and all.
Also no to beam damage nerfs. Just no. If zarya gets to keep her damage, so does sym. We already got beam and damage nerfs we definitely don’t need any more. >:u
I really would rather see them change her back to a Support.
She just doesn’t feel like a DPS even with her new kit. She feels like a mix of DPS, Tank, and Support if that makes sense? It’s just not cohesive. She has a supportive ability in Teleporter, Tank ability in Photon Barrier, and a DPS ability in her Turrets.
She was fine as a Support, they just needed to lean further into her role as a Support. Take away some of the power from her gun and put some healing abilities into her kit. All she really needed was some form of healing ability to actually be considered viable in even some scenarios.
the problem is, is there any way to give symmetra a consistent form of healing? i agree her TP and ultimate are great support abilities, but people actually believe healing turrets and a shield generator would actually be enough to make her viable. plus, the devs are moving away from overheals like shield generator as it is very hard to balance other heroes around
she was very much a Defender type hero, with team support capabilities tacked on. keeping TP as an ability and her ult would definitely make her a more suitable support for offense. its the rest of the support ingredients the devs would have to nail perfectly to make her even remotely non-niche
i wouldn’t say anyone would struggle to maintain the beam range with power scaling, considering that her current range is only 12 meters. I made sure level 2 charge was only 1 meter reduction from level 1 to ensure ramp up time while closing the distance on a target. this buffed beam with extended range is significantly better at zoning out enemy tanks than current sym.
“the whole point of a wind up beam is that it gets stronger - not weaker.” yes, you see the beam already does exactly this. making the beam scale longer while it ramps up massive damage would be the opposite of balanced and ridiculously broken. the bonus ranges to level 2 and 1 are 100% buffs
and the 5/10 dps reduction to level 2 and 3 charge is to compensate for dealing much more reliable level 1 and 2 damage than before. 170 level 3 charge is still plenty to chain shred enemies. 170 is the same damage output as a 100 charged zarya, it’s fine
Well she’s all about building and creating things. There’s many of different ideas they could go with. She could create healing stations for example. Her turrets could work like Brig’s inspire and burst healing whenever they deal damage. There’s a lot of stuff they could do.
Instead of healing turrets, give her light clones of herself that use abilities to heal (like Ying from paladins) You make the heal balanced, give her an ability to tp back to her clone (it would disapear) + tp, her current ult and there u have it. Balance numbers correctly and you get the most fun support after Lúcio.
Buff primary to 80/120/180 AND buff either TP cooldown to 8 sec.
Or make teleporters cooldown work like combination of Mei Icewall/Sombra Translocator. Make it go down by half, it it stays on the ground for long time, then destroyed by Symmetra herself.
Old teleporter had it charms like, shorter cooldown, availability when needed as in it’s never just there for taxi purposes and can actually be used to escape a bad situation. Also turret bombing was very fun way to do damage, now completely ruined by massive downtime, that new teleporter has.
Though devs really hated that Symmetra players used turret bombs or used the teleporter to just for themselves for flanks. That’s why we have the infinite teleporter right now.
i keep seeing people bring her up. apparently she really is one of the funnest supports out there across both games. i’d be lying if i said i wasnt interested into a support who teleports and heals
Shes by far more fun than like half the support cast in OW (except Lúcio lol). If they put her kit on Sym, it would be amazing for everyone (if balanced correctly). Also, she would need to deal less damage in exchange for heals and a escape for her clone. The problem i have with OW hero design is cause not every hero got a reliable defensive/evasive ability and that makes mobility heroes far stronger than anything else. If current Sym had one of those, i guarantee you she’d be one of the best DPS in the game.
No. That’s a horrible idea. Imagine hitting someone at 14 meters. Suddenly you can’t hit your target anymore when you’re max charged. Plus the damage nerf. NO.
you do understand that you can simply start beaming them at a closer distance, yes? you aren’t required to immediately start beaming them when at 15-14 range. and even if you were beaming them starting at 14m that gives 2.66 whole seconds to close the distance from 14 to 12m, which is perfectly still doable because you can approach an enemy faster than they can back up. plus you still keep level 3 charge for 4 seconds before decay, too
the beam range length change part would be 100% buff, and a really good one at that
