Resurrect does not belong on a cooldown. A resurrection is so strong that it’s required an awful cast time, slow penalty and a 30 second cooldown.
Mercy has to stop healing to resurrect, and it makes her a statue for almost 2 seconds. This is counterintuitive to her highly mobile, throughput healer identity.
By returning Resurrect to her ultimate, there is leeway to revert a lot of the nerfs previously made. This will make Mercy feel fluid again, and you won’t be punished for just using your kit.
Single-target only, two charges. Stunning Mercy will cancel both charges. Mercy has 3 seconds to use both charges before they go away.
Cast time reduced from 1.75s to 0.8s, no slow penalty. This is needed to bring some counterplay.
Line of sight required.
Each Resurrect resets Guardian Angel Cooldown.
Guardian Angel speed increased by 50%. This is to make it easier for Mercy to fly between two allies during the brief window.
Ult cost is 20% lower than her current ultimate.
Yes, we’re bringing back the double rez. However, this time, she has 3 seconds to use both charges.
With the old Valkyrie, she had 2 instant charges to use over 20 seconds whilst amplifying her team’s damage. Double rez will be much more balanced now that there are no added pieces of team utility.
Because these are tempo rezzes, the old “hide and rez” play style will be impossible. See this as the same as current Resurrect, but with one extra charge and no terrible slow + long cast time.
Valkyrie
Now her E ability.
Increases beam length from 15m to 20m.
Increases HPS from 55 to 70.
Increased DMG Boost from 30% to 40%.
3 second duration.
12 second cooldown (begins upon ability end). Cooldown may need to be increased. Still sprouts wings like with current Valkyrie, but the animation is dialed down a bit.
This is intended to be a way for Mercy to quickly amplify her healing and damage boost output. Mercy is currently the only main healer that has no way to amplify their healing per second with their base kit.
The brief duration means it needs to be timed well, instead of spammed every time it comes off cooldown. This will increase Mercy’s skill ceiling.
increase the valk cooldown to 12-14s and i think this is a very fair change. The damage boost may be an issue, but as there are no chains it could work… that’s the only potential issue rather than cooldown
I think this resurrect is a little bit weak. Because to get maximum value you would have to let 2 teammates die. I think it either needs to be multiple tempo resses with a longer period to use them for maximum value or just one res on a really short ult charge.
Going along with your idea though, perhaps Mercy could charge each charge of the res like its own ultimate. She can build these charges over time to a maximum of 2-3 then pop the ult and she has a period of time to get these resses off. This way it can be used prematurely to save one or two teammates or you can horde it for more. But I really do like the counterplay additions and the way it requires skill on whether to attempt for more resses.
As for Valk does it maintain the chain beams? The chain beams would make so much of a difference that I can’t tell how powerful this ability is. Also can you still fly? Does it have a cast time?
Res is fine how it is. Some of you gotta get over the fact that it slows down your game for a second, it’s hardly ruinous to the experience.
Also, Mercy doesn’t need to boost her healing. The benefit of Mercy’s healing is that it is constant, forever, and that it heals for quite a bit by comparison to other infinite sources. Mercy’s healing is easy and reliable, it doesn’t need to be any higher than it is.
Rezz as an ultimate does not work well for mercy; it isn’t a healthy ability for her as an ultimate. This is something that has been tested and seen to be true.
Back in the day, Mercy would just let her team die because, in her head, she could just bring them all back. That line of thinking is horrible for a healer for obvious reasons, but my favorite is Mercy trying to mass rez and then getting killed before she can even ult so we lose the team fight BECAUSE mercy refused to heal and then died before rezzing.
As it is now, Rez is fine since it does all it needs to do. You bring an ally back from the dead, but you risk your safety for a few seconds. Simple, effective, and it avoids all of the issues of Rez as an ultimate.
Mercy is the support equivalent of Rein; easy to play, consistent value, and has good numbers on their stats. Rein only has the highest stat of his category because he’s slow.
If Mercy couldn’t easily reach her targets, she would need more healing to stay reliable.
