I’m sick of hearing that crap. “wE dOnT hAvE a TanK”, when both our dps have negative K/Ds. What the hell is switching to a hero who has a shield going to do for these morons?
I play Winston and Doomfist, sometimes Hog, and if I can rack up 18k damage mitigated in around 12 minutes with those 2, I think my tanking may be fine?? I’m clearly drawing attention from some large damage source.
Blame the DPS for not being to flank, don’t blame the tank who already hates playing the role because of how miserable it is to play nowadays.
It’s just insecure players who somehow STILL haven’t figured out how to work with their tank if their tank doesn’t have a big shield. You can ignore them for the most part, but there definitely ARE circumstances where Sigma or Rein are almost necessary, such as playing Circuit Royale against double snipers.
Yeah, my favourite is when they demand a shield, but the enemy is running sombra/genji/doom. Like how is a shield going to do anything against triple dive? Or they’re running symmetra. Like what? You think giving symmetra infinite ammo is gonna help us kill her? Cause that’s literally the only thing having a shield does against symmetra
I mean any barrier tank can cave her skull in since she has to be in 12m of them.
Symmetra only counters cowardly tanks. The moment a Rein understands that he can just w+m1 a Sym to win, or a Sigma that he can just rock and ball her within a second, its over for Sym.
To be fair, sometimes just going a hero offers a placebo effect that makes them play better. I am not defending them at all, but it is possible it would make the difference even if they succ.
crapfist mains… always ruining other people matches, not making space, getting melted by bastion, getting all his teammtes kill. lololol keep it up kiddo
Here is a hot take: they are wrong but if you can play the hero and have a similar impact I would do it. Not because they are right but because in a team of you can make a pick that can get more out of your team it can be correct. Even if it’s not ideal if they play with it better, I’d just go with it.
Depends on the sitaution, you might have needed to counter act a zarya which rien is good at, or a long range threat like widow that your team doesn’t have the skills on picks to counter.
Like don’t let them be rude to you, but these three do have some common counter picks.
Ok but foregoing the shield and chucking a knife at her to pull her to you from behind her tank, shooting midair, axing as she lands for the combo finisher, is way more effective and fun and then she doesn’t get infinite ammo for fast rampup to melt your team.
Not to mention, axe, knife melee, and ult, ALL ignore sym wall.
Your point was that ‘‘why would anyone pick a barrier tank, there might be a symmetra’’. Every tank can kill Symmetra before she becomes a threat, my point is that barrier tanks are not in a massive disadvantage compared to non-barrier tanks. Killing Sym 3.0 is easy.
But regardless, tank picking was made intentionally complex and counterpicky the moment it went to solo tank against a Symmetra.
Not that Sym is seen a lot because lol 1% pickrate hero.
Sometimes, regardless of how well you play or how much you try to pretend otherwise, picking a barrier tank has its upsides that non-barrier tanks dont have. Pretending otherwise is delusion.
Winston might be good but too many people are clueless and don’t understand the concept of ‘STAND INSIDE THE BUBBLE’, nor do they know how to barrier dance… As for Doom and Hog, the only mitigation you do is solely for yourself, not for the team, thus it is up to the damage players to work around it and flank rather than standing up their tank’s rear end, non-stop overexposing themselves…
Shield tanks are good on a lot of the maps, especially in choke points. Sigma is great since he can send a shield to high ground to cover their hitscans or protect their support. Rein is good in tight places due to how big his shield is and the fact that he moves around with it. Same thing with D.va. Great for tight spots.
Some maps favors certain tank types while some favors other tank types. It’s just the way it is. Adapt and overcome. I get that it’s hard with horrible damage players who constantly overexpose themselves and support with extremely low IGIQ and situational awareness in particular, but sometimes a shield tank is the better option depending on the map and the game mode.
