Today i’ve played a few rounds after updating the game yesterday and instantly noticed how much the performance suffered.
Usually in crowded areas the game runs mostly fine with maybe some very minor drops, while the only big lag happened if both teams used all their Ults.
Now after the update, the performance dips to like 7fps with only 6 players on screen. It feels really random when these drops even happen.
I have almost 700 hours on the Switch version and it never struggled that much before. So far out of 5 games, 3 had big fps drops.
EDIT: For some reason it’s especially bad on Dorado, in that fountain area right before the first checkpoint

i’m having the same issue! the game sounds are also glitched, some of them are really really loud

I have a switch-lite and seeing the same exact issues ever since the latest update.

Yeah I’ve noticed it to. It is so bad. Like really really bad and it’s driving me nuts. Blizzard please fix

Please try uninstalling and reinstalling the game software in its entirely. This may help with the recent Rebase patch.

I also noticed the frame rate drop specially while playing portable. I tried reinstalling and nothing changed. It was the last update. I am playing this game every day like crazy. Please fix it!

Can confirm, have played for 1115hrs, fps has been stable every single time i’ve played besides now.
Then there is the super loud ults, and it’s not even just ults, regular abilities and even the primary fire of characters in their spawn is way louder now.
It’s not gamebreaking but I doubt anyone would really want to touch comp while this is going on.
From what i’ve heard, pc is only experiencing fps drops and not the drastically louder sounds.

I did this, tested on system memory and SD Card, no improvements whatsoever… this is really bad we can’t play at all it’s really unplayable. Very High Input Lag, Massive FPS Drops even on menu… please fix it

Did this last night and didn’t work, not only do I get massive fps drops in a match but also on the main menu and it wasn’t like this before. PLEASE fix it.

I appreciate all of the feedback letting me know the performance issues are persisting still on the Switch. I will be getting the game reinstalling on my switch console later and will try to report back on whether I see similar problems or not.
Its the weekend, so its unlikely I can reach out to Blizzard myself about this immediately.

+1, re-installed, switched from system memory to high speed MicroSD, sound is really loud, FPS super unstable, seems to be a game problem and not a console problem.
Since there’s some Blizzard official activity, might as well add other known issues on Switch to the list :
- Voice chat : putting the Switch into sleep mode, or losing connection (so getting back to the login screen without closing the game) breaks the voice chat, you are unable to join until you totally close and re-open the game. This has been going on for several months now (before the echo update), it wasn’t like that at launch.
- Skins portrait during matches : this is one from release, don’t know if it’s normal or not but using a skin doesn’t change the hero portrait during games, it’s always the basic skin picture, devs said they were looking into it around the first few weeks, and we never heard anything back.
- Black screen : switching hero in fast moments (OT with lots of ults, sometimes just during the game normally) takes more time than before, you get a black screen for a few secs then you appear on screen

Out of curiosity how does the Switch handle the Total Mayhem arcade mode?
I tried it again today and it feels just horrible, game’s running at 15 fps …
It’s been a week so I hope they are at least aware of the current state of the Switch version and trying to fix it.

Since they managed to leave the VC and black screen bug for like the past 9 months and it keeps going, I’d say you can expect an update any time between now and never. Really frustrating that there’s no real announcement or words from dev, while if this happened on PC you could expect a full blog post about it and a patch in the 48h.
