Switch 2 LC-202 Problem

Every time I get into a game, I get the ‘Disconnected’ thing with the LC-202 code. Does anyone else have that problem? Because if it’s keep going to do that. My account may be flagged because of this. And I don’t want that. I can login fine, get into a game. But mid-match, I just get kicked out and can’t get back in. Yesterday, everything was fine. And now, I can’t get in anymore.

This has been a big problem for many players, across all platforms and regions, since the hot fix and patch pre install last week. PS5 player, here.

The issue was mainly at night time (Aussie time) for me, yet on Thursday it got so bad I was getting the “Disconnected from Game Server” while at the Entering Game phase on the login screen during the morning.

After deleting/ re-installing OW that day (Thursday), including that night and yesterday (friday, my time) I managed to get 19 games in with zero LC-202 random/ sudden DC’s, accross that time (including leaving the game idle in the menu) I had over 7 hours on OW without one LC-202.

When I re-installed Overwatch on PS5, the games install file size went from 84.7gig down to 83.4gig, so I am not sure if that gig plus worth of junk data was causing issues since the patch last week–as i had never had a problem like this in all my many years on OW.

Since re-installing I can also select my Flex Role Heroes and manually select Role Prefered as well instead of just tick boxing my highest level Heroes. So another glitch fixed.

Players are still randomly disconnecting midgame, mid action during games, so it is still an issue in the games I got thru.

All I can recommend is to delete Overwatch, power off your switch for a few minutes, re-install, after the 20 minute download I decided to power down my PS5 again for 5 minutes before booting the game back up.

Deleting/ re-installing was the last troubleshoot i had tried (as I didnt want to delete the game with the patch Ready to install on XX Date in the PS5’s download section and after all the frustration forgot to do this step.

Hope this can help, mate.

Also to the Post above. Internet is also completely fine and yesterday it worked well aswell and the past few weeks for the event. Here and there once or twice server connection issues but that was it.

Now since a few hours ago. CONSTANT Issues.

Quickplay, Arcade, even just the Story Missions with Null Sector. In the Middle of the Match or even also when the match is almost over (for either side) the server disconnects.

Now to the Fix you said.

Did that. Worked… for One! Game. And that was Backfill. Gone into another game after.

So at the end of the match. Almost finished pushing Payload. The Red Symbol of Doom appeared again on the left side (The Connection Warning I belive means it). Then it went away for a few seconds and then it appeared again and bam. Disconnected. Sooo yea. Hopefully they fix this soon because if I loose out on the Shion Event rewards just because now suddenly the Servers are unstable with the Switch 2.. That’s some mad stuff..

I can’t even count how many times a got kicked out this season for no reason at all. I just got a 2 h suspension. I feel like this problem startet with the beginning of this season and Blizzard does not care at all. I expect the issue to be resolved next season or not at all. Crazy disappointing and unfair and simply unplayable. I can’t even get one daily mission done. Now I’m thinking about just dropping the game for good and play games that are actually playable.

For me it was 6 Times today. 2 times in Quick Play Role Queue then 2 times in the Arcade Event Mode, Then even 1 in Custom Games! and then after the Backfill game that miraculously worked back to Server Disconnection.

Feel like not even over all of Overwatch 2 Launch until Rebrand and until literally yesterday it wasn’t this bad as it is today suddenly.

Sorry to hear you are still having issues, mate. Truly. Its not cool on players, people getting ranked bans, not being able to grind the event.

I don’t own a Switch/ 2 so I am not sure about its connection, are you connected ethernet or wifi?

On PS5, in all the “Disconnected From Game Servers - LC-202” I’d had since last week when the hot fix and Patch pre Install dropped I only ever had that red icon appear once, and it was for a blip. All my LC-202’s were just sudden ports back to the login screen as quick and sudden as you enter the Pre Game Phase when finding a game. I could be in Practice, sitting in the menu, in pre game waving hi, mid team fight, on payload… pow, back to login screen with that red banner and “Disconnected From Game Servers - LC-202” text.

It does appear to be a Switch server issue at the moment from the posts on the forums. Ive tested two games on PS5 while having my laptop open with the OWCS stream goin on to fully test it is not my internet causing the previous LC-202 issues and everything is fine for the 50 minutes I have had the game open.

All these issues players are having seem random and I hope blizzard extend the event since this has been goin on for most of it.

Hope this is sorted so you can finish the Anima Event.

I am on WiFi but my Internet is also fine. The Switch 2 is literally the only thing that’s connected to the WiFi. Not even my Phone is connected. I am using Mobile Data for that.

And these Server Connection Issues are literally ONLY happening with Overwatch. Other games are fine aswell.

Also Update: Got another Game in and actually won this time. First time today. And in that good mood, gone into another game. Loaded into the Game and choosen my Character. Waiting for Match to start. Bam. Gone again. Suspendend for 10 Minutes (as of starting to write this)

First ever 10 min suspension since I started playing at Launch of OW2 back then–

Literally the biggest amount of issues so far in a matter of hours/ a day…

Thanks for tying to help. I tried everything and my internet connection is just fine. It must be Blizzard’s fault. My friend and I are getting kicked out almost always at the same time. When in-match, I start hearing my team mates in VC as robots. Shortly after that, I see the red sign on the left. Then it’s a 95% chance I am getting kicked out in the next few seconds. At this point, we even warn the others that we are about to get kicked out because it is always the same procedure. Ultimately exhausting and killed my interest in the game, ngl. Let’s see when and if Blizzard is going to fix this. If you ever see my username in a match, say hi, lol.

Bugger, not cool that has happened to you, mate. It is indeed an Overwatch issue… WoW on my PC, and Diablo 4 on PS5–where I also play Overwatch–worked perfectly while I was experiencing this issue. An Indie game worked fine with multiple apps goin on connected to my internet… it was just Overwatch being affected.

My PSN was never affected either when I was having my LC-202 issues, I assume your Nindendo account has had no DCs at the same time, too?

This shouldn’t be a factor, but just in case, what region are you in? the NA OWCS are goin on currently, well about to finish, and have been running for the last couple hours, have your issues been within the last 4-5 hours? Anything to try deduce what is causing the extra LC-202’s.

I’m in the Europe Region actually but these Issues are as I seen across ALL Regions and not just specific to one Region alone. But as said, this is literally the first time it has been THIS bad with Overwatch Server Connection Issues..

Aye, multi Regional, multi Platform. Most heinous, indeed.

There were EMEA OWCS earlier today as well, but as I said, that really shouldn’t be causing these issue as they would be on their own servers for that. Just trying to connect dots as to why Switch seems to be the platform affected more so now.

No prob at all, happy to try help others. And sorry to hear that, mate. And indeed, understandable it draining to the point of killing enjoyment. I was having the same thing.

Hopefully this issue is sorted for all affected soon.

Exactly, it’s a Issue across the Board.

I have been trying to at least play some Story Missions so I don’t get thrown out another Quickplay:Arcade Match but even there it still doesn’t work. I got further this time into the Null Sector Factory but then the Servers got me again and well yall know the Situation by now.

Btw, it’s crazy that fixing these Server Issues that thousands of people have isn’t their MAIN CONCERN.

Since People who can’t even play the game won’t and or can’t even buy Skins and spend Money - - -

Should be logical but yea. Also. While writing this. Overwatch Server disconnected me again, this time while being in the Main Menu..

Indeed, by proxy the servers and game health are essentially the Shop, which is why I found the lack of acknowledgement that: “we are aware many players are experiencing technical Server issues, we are working on trying to resolve the issue, blah, blah, blah…” to be so disconcerting. Why would one want to spend money if they cannot even play a game or two on the service provided? yet every other game works 100% fine…

I saw enough posts on here and reddit to know it isnt just 4 people affected by this.

Came back to this to say, I somehow managed to do the event. But of course here and there were still Disconnects here and there. But this time I honestly just stopped playing after a disconnect for a bit instead. Still doesn’t matter though for them as I got disconnected again mid match today and it was going good. I got a hit against a Junkrat as Jetpack Cat. Rushed back to Reinhardt on the Payload. Bam. Server disconnected me.

So yea. That is still on going.

Thing is. As the Season started I honestly thought about getting the 40€/$/whatever Currency People have. Bundle just for the Shion Skin and well the rest too. But I couldn’t yet at that Time so wanted to wait a bit. Well and now after all these disconnects and stuff. They might be lucky if I even spend 5 Currency so I get at least the BP with the coins I still have left over..

I’m having the exact same issue on PS5. It seems to happen mostly at night (Australia), usually from around 9–10 PM onwards. During the day it’s either fine or happens much less often.

I’m confident it isn’t my internet. My connection sits at around 890 Mbps download and 83 Mbps upload, and everything else works perfectly. I’ve already tried restarting my modem and clearing the PS5 cache, but neither made a difference. The only thing I haven’t tried is reinstalling the game because I play almost every day.

The biggest concern for me is the penalties. I have over 4,500 hours in Overwatch, and I’m genuinely worried my account is going to end up suspended or banned because the game keeps disconnecting me with LC-202 through no fault of my own.

Hopefully Blizzard is aware of it because it definitely doesn’t seem like an isolated issue.

Yeah, it originally was a 9pm-11-pm AEST issue for me when this first started happening–also PS5–then for some reason it moved to a early morning problem, around 10am. No idea what or why, yet the only thing that I can connect was when they did the Shion Hotfix and patch Pre install, around the 26th of June–give or take a day. Everything else connected to my NBN works fine, even WoW, and Diablo 4–which i also play on PS5– work with zero issues… it is just Overwatch.

It was infurating getting the Anima Event completed, draining more than it should have been. And the penalties that have started to accure have really killed my desire to play, i just checked my OW Weekly Report Email i got yesterday… I only played 7 games for that week. So if Team 4’s job was to start driving players away, then it is working. I love Overwatch, but i shouldn’t boot up a game and be wondering if/ when I am goin to get randomly and suddenly DC’s because of poor servers. A literal Sword of Damocles, indeed.

I should add: I recommend deleting and reinstalling OW if you have tried everything else. It was the last trouble shoot i had yet to try, and while it didnt fully address the issue, I do not get LC-202 anywhere near as frequent. And it also fixed the glitch of not being able to select preferred heroes in flex role and manually selecting in Role. So that was one glitch fixed.

Took just under 20 minutes for me to download the 84gig, with your speed it would only take just over a dozen minutes. Power down the console after you delete before reinstalling OW again.

My gamefile when i deleted was 85.7gig, after reinstalling, it dropped to 84.4gig. So I am not sure if that gig plus of junk data was causing some problems. I also moved OW to my 2TB ssd (game file is now 86gig + due to the mid season patch, so you should manually check before deleting to reinstall to see if you have any junk data, too. I had had Overwatch on my Console since i got my PS5 in 2023)

Good luck with it, mate.

That’s good ya managed to get the event done, it was frustrating for me, too, so I get ya.

Due to this, though, I have lost me desire to play… as I wrote above, in my OW Weekly report I only played 7 games… and I have just got Anran’s two new skins I would love to be using… but not knowing if I will DC at any moment really has destroyed my want to play a game i love right now.

(I had coins already on my account if any one were wondering, I had planned ahead because i don’t mind buying things for something i love… but then this issue hit -_- and it has been a massive kick in the teeth…)

It hasn’t been happening anywhere near as frequent for me, but for the moment, the damage is done. Hope the issue has eased up on your end.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve actually just deleted the game and I’m reinstalling it now, this time onto my SSD, so hopefully that makes a difference.

Interesting that your install size dropped after reinstalling. I’ve had Overwatch installed for a long time as well, so maybe there’s some leftover junk data causing issues. I’ll report back once I’ve had a chance to test it over the next few nights, since that’s when the LC-202 disconnects usually hit me the hardest.

Fingers crossed it helps!
