I have been suspended for eight hours from competitive after attempting to restart from the “applying update” issue. It’s happened twice today, and I was suspended for an hour this morning, and for eight hours now. Wtf???

Don’t queue anymore as you will be banned for 2 months if you manage to see 2 more APPLYING UPDATE bug disconnects.

I’d like to add in here and apply with another response from another related forum. Please address as frequency of these claims is substancially impacting competitive gameplayability @blizzard
My wife and I are in the same boat. Same issue with apply and both are now up to the 2month ban wave section. So I guess we just stop playing competitive until Blizzard reacts and engages the community with a resolution. Waiting for Blizzard response following in all the forum posts I can. Lets go team.

Your next ban will be 20 hr then the one after is for entire season so I’d say yes.
Blizzard CS said the devs know about it
It even happened to them on stream at 25:10
Soon it will be pulling back on recent BP purchases by putting reject notices to credit cards - as functionality of the game to use them in is paused. How has this not been responded to as a hot topic yet?

We don’t even have a way to directly contact Blizzard support like we used to All we can do is put in appeal tickets and bug reports and pray that they care enough to fix it

Blizz CS can’t recompensate your lost SR/MMR or unban you so we are all in same boat regarding this bug. It’s best just to take a break from this while they work on fixing the issue.

So I just have to swallow three leaver penalties including lost MR and docked endorsement because of their screwup with no recompense and no way to play comp? What the hell?

Worst case scenario, yeah. We all will have to wait for the developers to officially make a response about this issue since it is out of Blizz CS hands. It’s worse for people who had penalties prior to this bug since they don’t reset anymore after a new season starts. So people who came fresh off a season ban are most likely banned again for no reason. New people at least had the 4 chances of suspensions ranging from minutes to hours before getting the big ban hammer seasonal one.
This is unbelievable. How can Blizzard just ignore this??

To make things worse, I logged in within the first hour of the new release season and was part of the “You dont get your Diamond title or lock” group. So I dont have my title earned, season ranking behind. Then this. Booo

Dang this really sucks. My main game mode is competitive, I don’t really play any other game time. So this is really disheartening. This has happened to be twice now, and I am currently suspended for an hour.
This isn’t listed as a known bug, so not sure when it will be fixed.

i have tree suspended for the same reason, i am literally going to be demoted here in the south america server because of blizzard

Same:( Just awful. Leaver penalties for leaving with the game being cancelled are OUTRAGEOUS. It just causes some time for the playerbase, you cannot rejoin fast enough (if you had a crash), you get demoted a lot and suspended for basically nothing. Leaving mid game is infinitely worse for everyone. And these constant bugs, map loading *in ow1 and now applying update are just making the problems worse.
