Nah the last thing we need right now are players who are just tilted out of losing one teamfight surrender a winnable game
Im just gonna say it, and I dont care who this upsets, because some of you guys need to hear this: if youâre the kind of person who wants a vote to surrender button, you are a little coward (refraining from using harsher language). Grow a backbone.
Games are winnable until the screen reads defeat (unless you have leavers, but there is aleady a system in place for that so itâs a moot point). Some of you wouldnât have survived gaming in the 90s and early 2000s and it shows.
Edit: I genuinely do not understand how you people who want to quit at the first sign of struggle make it through your lives. I understand itâs a game and itâs not that serious, but if you arenât going to have a competitive mindset and spirit, maybe competitive isnât for you, and thatâs okay.
is very simple, ad a surrender option you can use once in the whole match and only when x amount of time or rounds happened, and only if everyone on the team says yes, 9/10 matches you know when you are going to lose, a comeback is unlikely, lets stop wasting our time
Thatâs exactly what Iâm saying with âsink with the boatâ mentality.
I didnât want to say âany team-based gameâ because there are 1v1 games like fighting ones or so and people still insta-leaves when they receive one extra punch of what they wantedâŚ
But I think âcompetitive gamesâ is what I was wanting to say
Yes. I personally go into every game with an attitude of âI can turn any game around, and if I lose itâs my faultâ. I know neither of those things are going to always be true, of course theyâre not, but thatâs the attitude I try to keep. I dont blame others, and I always try my best until the bitter end. The thing is though, I donât think this should be an uncommon thing. If youâre going to do something comeptitively, (not just gaming, anything) this is just what youâve got to think, in my opinion. It should just be the norm, and itâs sad that itâs not.
Yeah, any e-sport style team-based game. Obviously, that should go for 1v1 style games too, but there really isnât any way to stop people from just rage quitting, and at least the only people they hurt are themselves so whatever.
I gotta agree, if we donât get a leave âbankâ to use a free pass to not play bad maps. Surrender vote needs to be a thing, especially when its just repeated face kicking from an enemy team.
I mean at some point its just nothing good.
Now I can say there has been a few times where I have played and our team is going nowhere and all the sudden someone on our team of randos starts lasering people off the map⌠pretty obvious what they just did.
( I still report them regardless). Despite the bogus match-up was very obvious as to what it did. Which is place 5 rando noobs against a 5-stack that plays the game together all the time in compâŚ
But it shouldnât have to come down that type of behavior to solve for blizzard.
I donât want the opponents to surrender once I finally get on a competent team, especially after a string of bad matches. Just play the game; unbalanced matches are usually very short anyway.
I quit/throw, BECAUSE of too many people in my team WITHOUT a competitive mindset. At some point I just want to see them lose.
No, you quit and throw because youre spineless.
Unranked does not need a surrender, all it needs is the option to âfind replacementâ. Once you select that option and a fill is ready to join, the fill is joined and the leaving player is booted out. That way the leaving player keeps trying somewhat and the fill comes into a hot game with a countdown of 5 seconds or something where he sees the pov of the leaver. Nobody gets penalised. Everyone is happy.
Are OW games even long enough for a surrender vote? This isnât League/Valorant, they donât go on for 45+ minutes.
What a refreshing read on this forum. Thank you, you just made my night with this!
Youre welcome, but to be honest, I just wish that wasnât noteworthy or ârefreshingâ. I wish that were standard.
Id personally heavily prefer to not to have a vote to surrender in Overwatch. I just think the cons outweigh the pros.
Wouldnât hurt to have an option. Your example still applies regardless the surrender option is here or not. If the tank is angry with the team, they will soft throw and do nothing anyway because they canât leave. You are going to argue with me about Blizzard allowing people to leave one match only, but the limitation is here. Therefore, I suggest another way for people to get out of bad game legitimately based on an unanimous vote.
Again, no.
This would only create a ton of toxicity, and we donât need that here. You want this game to be as toxic as League of Legends? Because thatâs how you get a community as toxic as League of Legends.
Iâve been gaming longer than probably most average Overwatch Players have been alive. Iâm one those âsurvived the 90s and early 2000sâ gamers you mentioned. I feel its important to pre-text this because Iâm also one of those players who has a Full-Time Job, is married, and canât afford to spend 40hrs a week gaming, as much as Iâd like to.
The reason people like us may still want a âsurrenderâ button, is that for us, we play for fun. I play QP exclusively because I donât want the pressure of a Comp match. Iâm not trying to sweat, Iâm trying to enjoy myself. If I find my team is being steam-rolled, thatâs not fun. Conversely, if my team is doing the steam rolling, its not nearly as fun for my team either. Thereâs times Iâve pulled back my character so that the enemy team isnât trapped in spawn.
Yes, thereâs always a small chance that someone, somewhere, will find a way to break through and push back and win. Iâve done it myself before. But its very unlikely, and most people donât want to spend their time getting frustrated in the hopes of getting lucky enough to push back and win. Itâs far more enjoyable to just say âggâ and end the match so you can move onto the next one.
This isnât like Call of Duty where 1 player can carry and win the match on their own by pushing a little harder. It takes a concentrated team effort to do so. And since this game has very little communication in it between players, the odds of pulling that off are quite slim.
that doesnt sound like a good idea but leaving penalty could end up going in the near future as in reality its actually caused people to throwâŚaaron denies that even though its true
Well the game is already toxic when people are forced to stay in a match that they dont want to. What do they do? Just walk around and refuse to engage. Reports can only do so much.
Whatâs the longest quick play youâve played? Like⌠Câmon⌠Itâs like 15 minutes max, if both teams are equally good.
And if youâre steamrolling or being steamrolled, the match doesnât last more than 5 minutes unless purposely extending it. You take more time waiting for the penalty to go off and then waiting again for the queue time⌠than a âbadâ match.
