Surprise, another losing streak forced on me by matchmaking

I made a post yesterday that blizzard needs to fix this matchmaking system that is designed to consistently put you on losing streaks for x period of time

I dont know if it happens to other people but in my experience it is absolutely the case. People didnt believe me but after going on a massive losing streak (all the way down from 2650 to about 2300 which is absolutely insane) i then climbed back quickly reaching my all time high of 2789.

While on my way up back into platinum and to my usual sweet spot of 2600-2700, I predicted that i would go on another losing streak because thats what always happens due to the matchmaking design

And voila, like absolute clockwork ive lost 8 out of my last 9 matches. 5 in a row, one win, then 3 in a row. So predictable, so incredibly annoying and needs to be addressed immediately. No this is not a “self fulfilling prophecy” because even before i believed this was part of the matchmaking system it happened to me consistently which is what led me to believe it exists in the first place.

But that does not mean that i give up or stop trying or play like trash when im on a losing streak in fact it makes me play better because i want to end the streak so badly and yet to no avail, due to this horrible losing streak system that has once again decided you are not going to win these games no matter how well you play and no matter how hard you try

I find it hard to believe that i could be the only who has this experience of consistent losing streaks at least once every week/couple of days. Maybe i am i dont know but i do know that its not coincidence or bad luck. It happens too often and too regularly and is too predicable for either of those to be adequate explanations. Fix the losing streak matchmaking system

When I go on a winning streak it is because I am skilled!!! When I go on a losing streak it is because blizzard is out to to get me!!!

I’d say the matchmaker has been garbage for at least 8 months now, with huuuuuge variations in actual skill level between players. I straight up play with people sometimes who don’t even know where health packs are yet; that’s not fair for me or them. I don’t like it when they’re on my team or against me, because it’s just not a challenge. I also don’t like being that person on the team because then I’m the weak link that doesn’t know what’s going on; and different ranks have hugely different positioning and whatnot that means even if you’re mechanically good if you don’t know what the general plan is for that map you’re gonna have a hard time.

Wrong, i did not say that i went on that winning streak because i am skilled and if i did then show me where. You cant because i didnt

Its simply about my teammates. When i go on a losing streak its because of matchmaking. When i go on a winning streak its also because of matchmaking. I am consistent i play the same way every game its not me its the system

You went on a losing streak because you went on a losing streak. A better play would have kept on winning

Isn’t it more likely that you hit your SR peak and started losing since that was literally the most skilled group of players you’ve every played with? You’re also more likely to keep losing when you’re on a losing streak because of the way it impacts your state of mind. Blizzard isn’t messing with you.

Wrong. If i am consistently around 2600-2700 when not going on a losing streak, meaning ill be in that range for a few days to a week at a time, and if im always able to get back to that point no matter how far i drop, i clearly belong in that range at least and should never ever be on such a bad losing streak that i drop into gold

That is the matchmaking systems fault, not mine. I belong in that range because if i didnt

  1. I wouldnt have gotten there in the first place
  2. i wouldnt be able to keep getting back up there after losing streaks
  3. i would stay in lower platinum once i drop or even get stuck in gold the two times i dropped that far due to losing streak system

So what if you lose too many games in a row you want the system to start making sure you win??

That not how it works. The game grabs people it think are your skill level. Sometimes by simple random chance, Bad luck, A smurf or someone learning a new hero or just plan Tilt, you will win or lose many games in a row.

Try flipping a quarter and if this happens

Heads, Tails, Heads, Tails, Heads, Tails, Heads.

Spoiler alert: It will never be that perfect some times you are going to get lots of tails in a row or heads in row even when the system is PERFECT 50/50

This is so true! I can absolutly back this up! Last season was high plat, like 2800/2700 and the losing streak keept me dropping to 2300… only to climb again to 2800. It’s so insane! I guess its a system to prevent players from climbing to fast and increase their own wining %.

And if you come for me let me tell you that in this season i peak around 2970 only to drop to 2600 and currently climbing again to 2900. Probably going to play the 2900 game and lose bc im winning a lot of matches again.

To sumarize, yes its true that such a system exists to keep most of the playerbase in the lower elos and to adjust the winning percentage of the player. It’s getting worst bc more people are noticing more.

WHY? What would blizzard gain by holding a person back from getting to their correct SR?

As your SR climbs you WILL start to lose and that is the fastest way to gaurentee you start to lose more consistently by matching you with better players.

It doesn’t matter how consistent you are. You are only 1/6 of your teams power.

Really? Ok great then explain to me the many many times i also went on losing streaks when i was climbing out of gold.

And explain the losing streak i had prior to this one when i wasnt at my sr peak and was just hovering at 2600-2700 like i usually do. Or explain all the other times that that exact same situation happened?

Ive had multiple losing streaks when simply hovering in my sweet spot, usually down to low plat and twice down to gold. Your peak sr theory does not explain this

And like i said in my op i actually play better when im on a losing streak because i want to end it, doesnt matter because matchmaking has decided.

I play only my best heroes i focus more i try harder, doesnt matter. On the flip side, when im on a winning streak that matchmaking has decided to give me, i just cant lose. I make a bunch of mistakes, pick heroes i dont play much and it also doesnt matter.

Because your 1/6 of your teams power. You can’t carry every single game when you start getting close to your ranks.

Some times even though your the best player in the game…you can still lose

Streaks happen. The explanation is that you lost a bunch of games in a row. I went on a bad losing streak this season myself. I fell from 3988 to low 3500s. I made the mistake of playing tilted into a bad streak, which I usually don’t do, instead of taking a break. I know, though, that I could’ve done more or done better in every single one of those games. Before I almost fell into diamond again for the first time in years, I took a little break, worked out some kinks in QP, and got back in there and I’m back up to 3750 now.

You are responsible for your own SR.

How is it designed to do that?

I certainly hope you have compelling evidence instead of unsubstantiated anecdotes.

A man can dream.

This is par for the course.

Nothing here establishes something being “forced”

Ah. The self-fulfilling prophesy.

My main account is comfortably high-plat all the time. I rarely if ever get massive losing streaks and haven’t dropped into gold in many, many seasons.

Why should your anecdote be taken over mine?

Such is a self-fulfilling prophesy.

You can’t just say “It isn’t this” and have that invalidate the possibility.

You say it isn’t a self fulfilling prophesy because you didn’t think it when it started happening?

That can easily be chocked up to confirmation bias.

You also haven’t shown that isn’t a self-fulfilling prophesy each and every other time.

Yet another paragraph that literally says nothing of value and does nothing to back up your point.

You are not the only one who suffers from this particular version of confirmation bias and self-fulfilling prophesies.

Fix your mind-set.

Sometimes being the key word. SOMETIMES. yea that really helps your argument

Losing 9 out of 10 matches or something similar on a consistent basis in both gold and platinum many times throughout my 110 hours this season is not sometimes

Btw im amused by the fact that you edited your first post to add all the exclamation points lol desperate to try and make a point that i already proved was wrong. I did not say i go on winning streaks because im skilled and you have still failed to show me where you got that brilliant idea from

Cuz it wasnt me

My sweet summer child that one is easy and i awnsered that already to prevent peaks on winning percentage of the player. If you win 10 games and loose 8 or 9 your % is going to be near 50% +/-

I was diamond 6 seasons, then i stopped playing and my sr dropped from inactivity. Since then i wasnt able to reach diamond again. In the game to diamond i lost (i was winning all my games) and had a losing streak to 2700. THen i climbed to 2970 only to drop to 2600, now im climbing again and winning, curently at 2850. And its been like this in 2 seasons. Its not natural, its forced. You dont win 10/15 games to lose 10/15 and to win again 10/15 games.

Another prove that you have is the numerous acounts of several alt accounts that have a huge discrepancy to the first acounts created. Almost 1000sr in diference.

But its my opinion from someon who plays this game from the begging.

Yes its forced, yes you can still climb but you have to take the losing streak that adjusts your winning % to climb again.

I am not desperate to prove anything Cause most people know the truth.

Think about it. Let say the game thinks SilentStorm needs to lose 9 games in a row. That means it has to find 5 other people it wants to lose for those games and 6 other people it wants to win. For ever single one of those games because your not the only person affected in those “rigged” games. The 11 other people are also affected.

Why the HECK would the system do that?? There is 0 reason to do it when you have an SR system. When you reach the correct SR you level off your win lose ration for the most part

You are claiming the system is throwing the SR for these players out of wack for no good reason

It’s not forced on you by the matchmaking, that would mean there is a matchmaking system in place to begin with.

Neh, it’s just a random pile of numbers thrown together to resemble a MM system. It hasn’t worked for 3 years and I doubt they’ll ever get around to fix it.

Fix my mindset wow such words of wisdom thank you so much i am honored that you would bestow something of such great value upon me.

Just do me one favor. Tell me, for someone who pretends to know so much, why is that that you dont know the difference between prophesy and prophecy? I’ll give you some time to figure that one out

This is evidence of you needing to change your mindset.

Typos exist. My expertise is mathematics not English.

You know you have no defense or argument when you have to go for such low hanging fruits as this though. Thank you for conceding in your own special way

Pretty sad if you ask me. Continue making yourself lose and blaming a matchmaker. It’s funny for those of us who use logic.
