There is a mass exodus of Support players because the game has turned into “kill their supports and get a W” with the new 5v5. You’d think with the arrival of kiriko to the roster there would be more people wanting to fill the role of support-- but that just shows how bad off the role is.
Enemy tanks bulldozing through a team to go for healers, enemy flankers destroying the back line with majority of healers not having an escape mechanic. yes I can nade and sleep the reaper, but can’t fight that AND a sombra.
I can ask the dps for peeling, but if they don’t care enough to listen and just type “gg trash healer” there is nothing I can do. There is nothing I can do as a player to influence how they chose to play this game. I honestly think this is why we are seeing more and more dps moiras and zens. Healers who spend most their time getting harassed by the enemy dps just to turn around and get harassed in chat by their own team because they cannot stay alive to provide healing needed. It’s a lose/lose. So what’s the answer? become your own damage.
If there were some kind of mechanic to incentivize staying closer to a healer, like a -5-10% of damage taken, or quicker ult charge, slight speed boost, or maybe a minor boost to damage? I don’t know those sound kind of dumb, but at this point if nothing is going to be done to the current support heroes, there may be even longer queue times down the line.

I play Lucio and went deathless on a third point hold on Dorado last night. really enjoying him in OW2.
Yea it’s purely anecdotal
Lucio and Moira are currently the only 2 supports that can survive without a team babysitting them. Brigitte has some survivability too but people will shoot her shield like it’s a carnival prize situation

lucio has a great escape mechanic that does really well in OW2. Him, Moira, kiriko are probably best equipped at survivability in this game.

Nope, not touched the game in about a week now.
Did you say Winston? Or maybe a D.va? Oh, they loooove to focus a healer after dropping their bubble or matrix. They would even go as far as ignoring anyone that is dpsing them to just solely focus the support. The only thing that always gave them pause and leave was when they get stunned because they get dpsed enough that they have no choice but to run away. But, that’s gone so… good luck. But, the best combo I’ve seen in awhile is a Winston + Sombra (for good measure) at the backline. It’s chef’s kiss.
Nope, you’re on your own. The amount of time I had asked for help only for the enemy to go through me and the other healer is astounding. Then the tank or dps has the nerve to spam “I need healing” as you run back from spawn was the highlight of my games.
You can already see this happening. Insta-queue for support but 5-6 minutes on tank and 6 minutes on dps lol

yes i absolutely agree with this. Though I really hate resorting to Moira (a buddy plays lucio) , I just find playing her kind of boring.

Kiriko is the same way, i know this is anecdotal but just last night i duo’d to flankers, sombra and sojourn. Kiriko’s headshots are so thrilling, plus the wall climbs and teleports i think i only had 1 death in that game
There’s too little support heroes too IMO so that kinda bore me out fast. Especially how Moira is a good pick when queueing alone.

oh i don’t mind a winston or a dva, yes they can be annoying but they can’t two shot me like a rein or junkerqueen can. Now while i don’t miss CC, not having a second tank to fill that space to make them think twice before focusing healers is sorely missed.
People who spam they need healing when both healers are dead have the spatial awareness of soggy bread and should go back to playing versus AI. Should not be playing this game if they have no idea where their team is.
Queue times are only going to get worse, especially once they add the new tank hero in. Why we need more tanks right after Junkerqueen when it is no longer a 2 player role is beyond me. Meanwhile support is still sitting with the lowest amount of characters and shortest queue time.
Kiriko is very fun for me but her aim/spread seems extremely broken for me, often making her headshots more luckbased than skill, as sometimes the knives go perfectly to my crosshair and other times they skew off to left or right so much it doesn’t hit the enemy at all
I dont know i am pretty good at it short to mid range. Its the projectile speed that makes it feel that way
I can visually often prove this skewing of my knives by standing in front of a wall or aiming directly above/below me, which will show the knives landing completely displaced to the left or the right
if it is displaced your to close
Yeah, true – that is why I hope to see the other Supports get some creative changes added to their kits.
I have fun on Lucio because I don’t feel like I need tank/damage to ‘save me’ - out-juking my opponents and securing kills feels great! On Kiriko and Lucio, I have tools to disrupt the enemy or save my allies too. I’m only as vulnerable as I allow myself to be.
When I look at a hero like Baptiste, I can’t help but imagine his jump working more like moon boots, bouncing him forward with more quickness multiple times (Pip main, probably).
Sometimes I wonder how Brig would be if her shield was more like an “ability” than an accessory. I love the flexibility of just whipping it out whenever but what else could it do if it was an ability with a cooldown? (lore wise, she rebuilds it with a bit more of herself than Rein)
- Brigitte emits a larger barrier - similar to the curved old-Orisa barrier or even a ‘throwable one’ like old-Symmetra that floats forward. This temporarily blocks attacks for herself/allies and allows her to attack/knock enemies back at the same time
- Ignore the “barrier-health”. Now her shield simply blocks damage for a fixed amount of time. Like Zarya’s bubble/etc, it goes on cooldown afterwards and is used as more of a well timed block that won’t suddenly break
