Support the off-tank meta, make OW an fps again

OFF-TANKS ARE THE FUTURE

  • Off-tanks are fun and diverse
  • OW has always had more players who want to play off-tanks than shield tanks (always to the point where it's off-tanks fighting over who should have to play shield)
  • Game will be easier to balance if all tanks were designed as off-tanks (don't have to worry about the constant double shield meta, or Reinhardt being the permanent main tank).

This is the future of OW (and it's a good thing).

Look, I get it what you want and I get where people like you are coming from but I have one question, if Overwatch becomes an online team based FPS game, why should I play it over other online established FPS games like Warzone, R6, Valorant or even CS GO? These games have better FPS elements and have been moving forward really strong. Is it worth it for Overwatch to lose it’s unique identity, something that can attract new players and enter into this race with these games and perhaps lose in the long run? Just a thought.

Not like OW is going 6dps only. It’ll always stand out from pure fps games.

I am ambivalent about the FPS direction, but if we are going to go down that route, I think the maps need some work to provide more cover points or routes.

I mean, I’d largely agree… if it ever felt like I was facing a tank lineup instead of just Roadhog+1 these days.

But, as that’s all it’s felt like of late, the game’s honestly feeling staler than ever for me right now, so I’ll have to go with a “I like where you’re going with that… but no (or, at least not without a far clearer picture of the emergent gameplay likely to result from it).”

But not kill main tanks

I’d prefer more natural-looking maps in general, but I’ve always liked that the maps create obvious need and room for the creation of one’s own cover by way of shields. That’s not to say I liked the full HP barriers — far from that — but I like that they’re a powerful tool that sees frequent use.

How do you make rein an off tank in an FPS?

Isn’t it already doing that? Why change then?

Its not a pure FPS it never was and never will be. Except if the devs want the game to be a memory

DPS that have a higher health pool and defensive abilities against characters with a low health pool and most of the time no defensive abilities. Of course people would have fun with an advantage.

I approve. In fact, tune rein, orisa, and sigma away from shields so they can become beautiful off tanks too

Again? Overwatch wasn’t an FPS in the first place. Overwatch consists of the remaining elements of Project Titan, Blizzard’s attempt at a new MMO, cobbled together in a first-person MOBA hybrid.

There is 3 roles : Tank, DPS and Support.
