Support Queues Up To 10 Minutes

I guess everyone wants to play Support these days? Tank is still an instant queue. You’d think removing the second Tank per team would have addressed this, but you’d be wrong, lol.

According to alot of the support mains on the forum, these times are just because orisa and zarya are dominant. No other causes/issues, (esp from the support role).

All four of SVB’s guest speakers opening statements speak of Supports being very powerful.

It did, until every1 realized counter swapping the tank all game is the easiest way to win.

I watched the whole stream (only skipped the brig part). The conclusion was that support is fine for the most part and people are being hyperbolic about it. And that if there was any changes that should be made, it’s to their sustain (especially Bap’s). Most of the complaints were towards Bap and Kiriko actually in this stream.

Eskay talked about how Illari’s hurtbox is too big and should be reduced. But the rest of the criticism went towards her pylon. Streamers didn’t seem to mind her damage, as that is her playstyle.

Bogur’s only complaint about supports was that Kiriko’s suzu has no real counter unlike ana’s sleep/nade which you can play around. Pretty much everyone on the stream including Bogur said they loved Ana’s design.

Even in the tank debate, every single tank player said they didn’t mind Ana and even liked her design. I’m surprised by this since according to this forum, Ana is the worst designed hero that’s ruining this game.

TL;DR is that Kiriko’s suzu seems to be the most complained about in this stream (and it was brought up in the tank debate as well). After that, Bap gets the second most complaint.

The following are the changes the streamers suggested for supports:

  • Bap’s burst healing from regenerative burst (when it’s below half HP) removed, damage per bullet reduced from 25 to 24, revert the amplification matrix width buff.
  • Illari’s pylon HP lowered to 100HP (so tanks like winston can destroy with 2x Tesla Cannon Alt Fire instead of 3)
  • No changes were suggested for Kiriko but her suzu being annoying was brought up a lot.

Where are these magical long supp queues? Mine are always under two mins.

They run the game and have the most impact and best abilities in the game, ofcourse it has a huge que, its the only enjoyable and impactful way to play the game.

Kiriko makes ults laughable with suzu, to the point that you dont have to even ult track anymore

ana wins fights with a well placed nade alone

illari is better at dpsing than most dps

kiriko can run into the backline and 2 tap any squishy suzu if shes losing the duel and after you bait out suzu she can just tp away if shes losing and heal for value

Illari has a healing pylon meaning she doesnt even really need to think about healing

Baptiste makes ults and abilities negligable with immo field

they all heal just from not taking damage

zen can out dps dps and make you just permanently take more damage

Mercy makes a kill mean nothing and escapes scot free from everything

Lifeweaver can take a character losing a duel or about to die and say “nah they live”

like support is literally the best role in the game. You can cruise and win games in without even thinking

What rank are you playing at? I’m at Diamond, and the 10 minutes are by Blizzard’s own calculation.

Single target abilities (like hack, hinder, slowing effects, discord) are more potent on tanks in 5v5 because they don’t have another tank to cover for them when they get hit by those abilities, so of course it feels bad to play tank. 5v5 is a mistake.

I think the new support, being nerfed down will help a chunk there.

Yeah, every time there’s a new hero everyone wants to play the heck outta it, wouldn’t surprise me if it affected queue times in some places.

And if you manage to lose you just blame everything on the dps that you ignored all match, since they were busy running to health packs as they don’t have a self-heal!

Right? i hate when supports ignore the dps and then try to claim theyre the reason.

Support quickplay times for me range between 3-10 minutes. If it says 3, it usually takes 5 minutes though. DPS and tank queue times are almost always under a minute

Counter swap them, spam them with CC, and suddenly they are playing as passively as they did in OW1 and no one wants to deal with OW1 style tanking because it was awful.

Hmm, that’s not my experience, however I am in EU and this forum is mostly US players so it stands to reason we’re not experiencing the same queue times.

Lol that’s funny. There was a random hot take thread where mine was stating Ana is one of the more balanced heroes. Good to get feedback away from the forum confirming. She has no mobility to escape and if she whiffs her shots she’s dead. She is balanced and no amount of forum complaints changes that.

Let’s be real here.

It’s because dps mains love the 1v1 dueling capability of Illari, Moira and Bap (who I see a LOT more lately).

dps-supports are crazy meta right now and it’s annoying to us real support mains

It’s because playing into busted supports is cancerous. Why bother when you can just play Illari or Bap and still do what you did on dps but for significantly less risk?

I can see it from both angles. On one hand, Ana is still balanced in OW2 because despite her oppressive kit, she’s still vulnarable because she has no mobility and that’s her primarily weakness. Unlike other supports who has a lot more get away free jail cards. Not to mention you can play around her abilities.

On the other hand, Ana’s kit does also have the potential to start becoming oppressive when it gets stacked with other oppressive hero’s kits. You’re also kind of dependent on your support picking Kiriko to negate Ana’s sleep dart/anti-nade if you’re playing a tank that’s more susceptible to it.

But then again, you do have the option of picking a tank that’s less susceptible to Ana’s kit, like Zarya, D.va, Orisa etc. So I think it really depends on the situation but overall, Ana probably isn’t the most problematic hero in the game anymore for tank players. Although I think she was more fair and balanced back in OW1.
