Support movement nerfs

In general, I’m not going to complain about a lot of the changes. But the mobility changes are frustrating because mobility is literally the most fun aspect of the game. Mobility nerfs are nerfs to fun.

The devs nerfed mobility on almost every support that has mobility: Jetpack Cat, Juno, Kiriko, Mizuki, Mercy, and Wuyang. A few escaped. This has to be one of the worst and most baffling balance decisions I’ve seen.

Devs, if you are listening, please fix this. The other changes are honestly fine. But give us back our movement!

And on top of this, hitscans still didn’t get nerfed in any meaningful way except Ashe getting the babiest of nerfs a minor perk. And the global healing reduction passive continues to encourage supports to keep DPSing instead of trying to keep their teammates up. So this just makes supports crumble even faster. Which is stupid because these were the supports that were already struggling.

Kiriko has the lowest winrate? Let’s screw her survivability even more! Mercy had trouble sustaining her team and surviving? Let’s nerf both!

This balance team doesn’t play their own game. Or if they do, their own internal playtests cannot yield any relevant results. If their reveal trailer for Emre is anything to go off of, they’re all in wood tier.

[edit] nevermind Ashe got buffed. Hitscans didn’t get nerfed, one got a buff. Because we have to make them even more rewarded and make them take less effort and thought!!

And of those supports, the only one whose mobility was a problem was JPC.

Feels like the rest of them all caught strays because Blizzard doesn’t want to admit that permaflight is a bad idea.

Kririko is still to powerful imho.

crazy damage, crazy mobility and crazy amount of skins.

With the Kiriko changes specifically, it feels like they just want her to be Worse Lifeweaver. Stay in the backline, pump healing into your feeding Cassidy, and… idk, spam off-angles I guess. Meanwhile, Lifeweaver gets a cleanse as part of his base kit. I wonder if it will be as buggy as Suzu?

considering the number of flying heroes now (and they keep adding more)

id say hitscans being strong are needed more than ever for the sake of the game lmao.

because you aint taking down all those flyers with junkrat X)

My conspiracy theory is that they did this for Sierra, otherwise the tracking dart would be too easy to play around. Its also my conspiracy theory that they got rid of some heros self cleanses so anran could actually kill them.

Not the first time… not the second time… not the thousandth time… but soon…

The only one that I really have issues with is Mercy’s GA nerf. Mizuki’s kind of feels unnecessary.

I’d like if they just nerfed Speed Ring and Lucio speed boost to teammates with Amp.

I mean doesn’t sound too far from the truth if you ask me

Gotta baby the DPS

Like why did Genji never get the mobility HP nerf; despite having more mobility than pretty much every hero in the game

To me they all feel unnecessary. The only one I kinda understand is the Cat one.

Gonna be honest. I think the devs are conducting a social experiment. They wanna see how much crap support players can take, before they go on strike just like in rivals :joy:

In any case, I already uninstalled. I thought I could deal with their horrendous balancing, but it’s quite obvious the OW devs don’t know what they’re doing.

Wish y’all the best of luck

I don’t know why they are so insistent that Juno’s flight speed is such a problem. Almost no one has a problem with her but they keep wanting to nerf her.

Mercy losing GA speed might be trivial or awful. I’ll have to test it out. I’m not sure if I like having a reduction in healing in exchange for flash heal being part of the base kit. It makes it so flashheal can be available all match; however, with the healing reduction passive, lowering her healing worries me. Having two charges of flashheal might be broken. I’m worried this direction won’t feel balanced (too strong in some ways and too weak in others).

Kiriko losing 5m of tp range is something I’ll have to test out to see if it really feels that bad. I like that they finally increased the speed of the healing ofuda. This is purely because it feels better, not really a balance thing. Kiriko’s healing has always felt slow in a way that really conflicts with the rest of her kit that feels very fast. It genuinely made me want to heal less. Though I’m not fond of the idea of trying to force her to be more of a healer. The flanking dps playstyle is what makes Kiriko fun and unique to play.

I always try to remind everyone when changes at the start of season are made. Ask yourself How does this benefit the mythic receiver?

Start of season balance changes basically always benefits the mythic receiver. Not always every single change, but the patch as a whole is a net positive.

Soldier mains now have an easier time. There you go, there’s your answer.

Seriously. They gave junk more projectile speed during his mythic debut. They tried to turn ram into a barrier destroying tank during widows mythic debut. Among every other little change that happens those are some pretty.. obvious ones that scream ‘this change is for mythic skin guy/gal’.

Every "‘Wtf?” Balance change is always a net positive for mythic skin hero. Always. When the patterns be patterning every season.

That and/or the new hero. These benefit Sierra too. Just like many heroes losing cleanse last season benefitted Anran.

I’m fine with toning down some of the mobility in the game as long as they nerf Hitscan projectile size because mobility creep is why we have these training wheels hit boxes for hitscan heroes.

They do do that for sure for new heroes too, but they toned it down a bit more to be more beneficial toward the skin receiver now IMO.

It was way worse, like 50/50 to skin hero and new hero back when new heroes were locked in the BP. It was far more obvious to me back then for new heroes.

I’d say it’s probably like 70/30 now skin/new hero.

This is true. Ironically they need Mercy bad after they sold her Mythic too

Pharah, Sombra and Vendetta also had small reductions of mobility. I hope they continue to rein in excessive movement speed making many characters weak or useless.

The game is so fast characters like Winston are getting crutch fixes now, because 80% of enemies can just fly away from Winston trying to engage them. Ram’s ultimate is also kind of ridiculous because of general mobility.

Extreme mobility forces Blizzard’s hand in creating more unfair abilities (see autoaim on last hero), and players to pick at least one hitscan to have a chance to deal with enemies flying around.

i think all of them were warranted except wuyang and mercy

the nerfs werent anything too crazy, i think its fine within the context of evening the playing field between mobile supports vs immobile supports
