Support is borderline unplayable with health nerfs

Honestly I thought it wouldn’t even make a difference but the difference is very noticeable. It makes playing some support heroes pointless especially when facing turrets or sombra no matter how good your movement and positioning is. It used to be manageable being the only support in quickplay. You could get picks as support, still heal, be useful. Now it’s just being a straight healbot, quite literally carrying the team, and trying to stay alive if you’re the only support and sometimes even if you’re not. I don’t play quickplay to have to play like I’m in comp. This is what these health nerfs have made it feel like. Giving me a bad taste in my mouth for playing this game.

But all mobility heroes were nerfed, so it’s fair.

Oh wait…

Feels like the issue comes from the few flankers with multiple movement abilities in their kit that evaded the nerf. They can just hunt you down and you cant do enough back at them before you die.

Exactly this. You used to have time to defend yourself or get better positioning. Now you just die.

I feel the exact same way. With someone like Moira who needs to be in the thick of the fight to heal the tanks and some of the dps, the health nerf makes it so that the function of the character is all but broken. You can’t position her like you do other support. Tanks are just too strong, so you’re basically left being a useless support if you choose her.

You just have to get yourself into the habit of using more cover now which is not a bad thing just work on your positioning, positioning, positioning and you will survive more. Btw more does not need to be in the thick of the fight you can still throw a healing orb and run up and spray for a second and fade away.

I disagree, I think a lot is misconstrued from a lot of players who think is our job as supports to heal them and nothing else, this reflects in their gameplay at taking us for granted in that regard. so playing a support that way just makes you a prime target for being picked off.
sure even if I’m applying constant offensive pressure with healing in the mix thrown in, i still get attention from a sombra or what not but if I cant deal with them, (there are some bad ones out there ) i just adjust and play closer to my team so increasing the risk of attacking me.
There is a level of adaptation required. not just by you but the team. if your team positions and plays with the understanding that incoming heals are a bonus not an expectation. you will find are free to support your team better and deal with threats.

ive even had the rare situation where team complained about lack of healing, to which i pointed out i was being farmed by tracer/Sombra. the tanks apologized and said he would peel more. sure enough the next t attempts by the enemy my tank peeled and we took them out. they both swapped off them and i was left alone. wont always happen but does.

That’s so lazy :joy: do better. In fact, try and carry your team as the only support and then come back and do better.

except the orb had a travel time, so if you’re relying on that as your sole healing ability you are watching your teammate die while you struggle to survive.

I think your comment and the comment above yours is really good advice— all of which I try and do already but I maintain that when you’re the only support it shouldn’t be this hard in quick play.

Except you do that and now the dps and tank will train you since you have no mobility. At least before you had a bit more health and time to throw your healing orb to heal yourself while you were in melee range instead of relying on your only escape ability.

The most annoying thing as a support for me is getting one shot from hanzo

I know other support players hate sombra but for me its hanzo for sure with this season with decreased health

Most sombras don’t even know what they are doing lol

When you play tank you feel like you die instantly, play as DPS you feel like nothing dies, and when you play support you feel helpless. Season 9 I think was already ok (not perfect but better then all the following seasons)… they should have stopped there.

tracer is literally inescapable now. She’s terrible to go against as juno because even with ring and boosters its not enough to get away from her and without self healing and that terrible gun you just die. They need to let juno headshot enemies and they need to nerf tracer

Disagree.

This is the first time since before season 9 where I feel like I can actually carry on support if I have to.

I feel like I have actual agency.

Supports are SUPER lethal right now. Lucio’s a killer, Kiri’s a deadly lil ninja, Illiari is a machine, Bap slaps…

Go click heads. Healbotting is not the way.

That’s a turrets and Sombra being too strong issue, not a Supports being too weak.

+1 It’s a respawn simulator again.

yeah fr ive been climbing like a mf on support.

Yeah the translation for OP is basically “Now I cant just chill and escape/survive with ease” . Well, working as intended :man_shrugging:

Well, OP, time to leave support role, as there are clearly way too many support players, if such changes were applied.
