Yeah, 5v5 is totally balanced.

Every match just comes down to whose tank is better. In 6v6, at least one tank having a bad game didn’t automatically decide the entire match. Funny how having two tanks made the game feel less like a tank coin flip.

I’m in Gold/Plat. If you are just here to Rank-shame, don’t comment.

There was never a time when one tank could do poorly and have the other tank cover them enough to win. Tanks were pretty weak back then. You were still going to lose that match just like how you’d lose today if a DPS or support is having a bad match.

I’m in gold and I’m here to rank shame.

Wait………….

Yeah, 5v5 was such a genius move.

Remove one tank, dump the entire role’s responsibility onto the last one and then act shocked when most games are decided by a tank diff.

But don’t worry, someone will still bring up queue times like we’re trapped in 2020. People defending 5v5 are arguing for problems that barely exist anymore while pretending the tank gaps aren’t obvious.

Truly the pinnacle of game design.

Tank ofc has the biggest influence in 5v5. When your tank is bad, your team is (much) more at a disadvantage than a dps or a support being bad. The only balanced part is that your team also has a tank.

Aaron is more into MMOs imo. It looks like he wants to change OW into more MMO style AoS. 5v5 also more resembled an MMO group, which has nothing to do with the balance between group members. It only cares about balance between the team if any.

This does not necessarily lead to a bad game. But there’s still a conflict, esp. about individuals vs team. When the game is heavily relied upon the team-based balance and ignores individual power balance, then sr should be attached to the team like other sports like football, basketball and etc. rather than an individual.

I know it’s practically near impossible to make that only premade 5-man groups can participate in competitive. But that’s also the reason why many other team-based competitive games cared about the balance between team members as well.

But if you just play casually, it doesn’t bother that much, and this is also one of the reasons why Aaron makes the game more and more light and casual imo.

i use to be a big advocate for 6v6 and only if open queue. now not so much since really bad experience with 6v6 recently… had like 3 seven game losing streaks lol..

went back to 5v5 and was 50/50 again. maybe because i only play dps

Because those queue times will come right back in 2026 if they changed 6v6 to RQ, especially when 6v6 has such a low population.

How long they will end up being is uncertain, but longer queue times are a mathematical certainty if we go back to 6v6RQ. That’s a big “if” and the question every 6v6RQ advocate has to ask themselves is how long is too long for them personally.

Silly Jibblebutt, no one is changing OQ to RQ. They’re going after 5v5. :flexed_biceps:t2::ogre::oncoming_fist:t2:

it’s not a format issue, it’s just they made 5v5 tanks braindead raidbosses

no way you remove one source of damage and buff 5v5 tanks

Of course, silly me

I forgot these people are hellbent on Blizzard doing the exact same dumb mistake they did by taking 6v6 away, but with 5v5 instead

That isn’t even taking into consideration all the balance patches they’d made in an attempt to fix the scuffed balancing 5v5 brought.

That’s just a thing that happens sometimes. That’s not a 6v6 issue. I’m having the opposite experience, I’m currently on a six game win streak.

Had a crazy spread in one of my games, too. Pt5-M4. I was the master player on my team and I was diffing the enemy DPS as Juno… Couldn’t carry hard enough, though. :\

This just isnt true and players still saying this in 2026 cant look at the big picture of a match.

That influence is often determined by the support of your team.

This is the problem with 5v5 of youve got terrible DPS/Support its easier to jist blame the tank when in realoty its the DPS/Supports who are effectively sabotaging their tank.

Skill issue.

They know people love 6v6 RQ more and that’s why they won’t bring it back. They’re still salty from that “test” in December 2024. I dare you, prove me wrong.

Factually incorrect. There were PLENTY of times that this happened and was one of the largest reasons that people found 6v6 to be fun with two tanks. Not to mention, this also added to specific playstyles to be better fleshed out.

What? An AoS (Aeon of Strife) is not influenced by MMOs at all. Are you thinking of a MOBA like League or DOTA? In which Overwatch was already influenced by them originally. It is a hero shooter that took moba elements and injected it into a shooter genre. We see that they built that even further with Stadium being essentially Deadlock.

And that doesn’t make sense even further because most MMOs with a 5 person group structure aren’t running 1-2-2 for PVP. They barely ever have a tank spec for PVP. It’s usually 0-2-3 or 0-3-2. For PVE, which doesn’t change in this argument, a standard dungeon group would be 1-3-1.

And even in MOBAs like League or Smite, you can have a team comp without a tank. It is not a mandatory role.

But tanks in 5v5 are so OP that even a bad Ball can carry until the last point because he has 1500 HP. I’m a mediocre DF, and can do well. There sometimes I don’t know what I’m doing and everything works.

Adaptive Shield is on a 15 second CD, if your team are all stacking together perfectly every 15 seconds without makong any plays inebwtween while Ball cant do much else without getting blown up or having leave the fight… well thats on you.

Wrecking Ball is also pretty bad until he gets his Major Perk, so again i think its just on you

This is less about tanks being good and more about the enemy teams just playing badly.

You misspelled mystery heroes
