Mercy’s Super Jump is not a bug
The devs removed Mercy’s Angel Hop when it was a bug, then added it back in as a feature, so when you cancel GA with jump, it throws you a set distance along a line drawn between Mercy and her GA target’s center of mass.
By crouching before the cast and timing it right as she collides with her teammate, Mercy gets below the target’s center of mass, so the subsequent Angel Hop sends her straight upward, resulting in the Super Jump.
This is the mechanic the devs introduced, working as intended. It adds mechanical depth to a hero that otherwise lacks it, and allows Mercy to have vertical mobility when her teammates don’t. Just because one angry streamer wants it changed doesn’t mean it’s going to be.

the debate in question is whether or not that lowered suspension when crouch GAing is intended
from a visual standpoint it definitely doesn’t look intentional so it’s easy to simply declare it as a bug
But who cares

The method to activate it isn’t normally how abilities are used in this game.
The fact that it requires you to press GA and crouch at the same time as STEP 1 is already unorthodox for Overwatch, and then step 2 requires you to press space at a specific point during the GA motion. It makes it far too complex to be considered a feature.

The devs once said, that they are aware of that “bug”
But the kept it as a feature.

I can’t find it listed anywhere officially as a bug, known or otherwise. We obviously know that they are aware of this action but I’m pretty sure it would’ve been fixed after a year or more of it existing. Brigitte’s bug was fixed very quickly in comparison.
Besides, it hasn’t been an issue until a popular streamer complained about it. We’ve been told repeatedly by various players in the community that Mercy is balanced, particularly such responses were given to those who have been unsatisfied with Mercy for some reason (e.g. not as fun to play anymore, ultimate ability lacking something, tanks difficult to keep alive, and so on). Those unsatisfied with playing as Mercy were told to adapt or move on, so those unsatisfied with superjump should also adapt or move on since she’s a balanced hero.
One side can’t be told that they can’t use the ‘unfun to play as hero’ card when now the opposite side is using, once again, the ‘unfun to play against’ card.

A software bug is an error, flaw, failure or fault in a computer program or system that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways.
Blizzard didn’t intentionally create that ability, it doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad for a character, it’s considered a bug.
And i’m actually surprised people defend bugs. If it was something that actually hurt Mercy you guys would want Blizzard to fix it ASAP.

I think it’s a good thing for mercy but being able to constantly do it over and over is a bit much
Welp, there is old programmers saying
As long as devs dont say that something is bug or fix it we might not know how to clasyfy it XD

They did intentionally create that ability. If you use it on someone right above your head, like a Pharah or someone on high ground, you get the same result. Players found a way to make it happen on ground level by crouching at the beginning of the cast, so the target is above you. It’s working exactly as intended, people just got creative with it.

yes it is not a bug… it is an exploit

It doesn’t matter if in x position you can get the same results, it’s still an unexpected result created by holding crouch and jumping at the right moment and getting ‘‘creative’’ with it usually means exploiting a bug. Blizzard gave Brig that shield bash and people got ‘‘creative’’ with it, it was fixed quite fast.
If Blizzard wants it as a feature they should confirm it or they should stop with the double standards and fix all bugs instead of ignoring the issue.
It’s not really hard to do, just a yes we intend to keep it or it is a bug we intend to fix.

But it’s not listed as a known bug. They’ve had more than a year to make it listed as a known bug, if it was something they consider a bug which should then be fixed at a later date. Also nobody complained about it until a popular streamer whined about it recently.
Mercy’s fine, she’s balanced, move on sheesh. That’s what we’ve been repeatedly told whenever someone complains about Mercy’s kit (as a Mercy player).

Brig’s bash jump was fixed quickly because it was due to an error on their part. They forgot to limit the vertical momentum of her ability since it doesn’t normally move upward, and you could skyrocket off of surfaces. That didn’t even make it past the PTR. The ability wasn’t fully finished.
IIRC, people also figured out Mercy’s Super Jump during the PTR cycle, and it still made it through.
Then there is no issue in fixing it, right?

I’m guessing you missed the fine and balanced keywords in my reply. If she’s been fine/balanced for pretty much the last year then there’s no reason to change her (e.g. no reason to ‘fix it’). You can’t have it both ways
. By changing her you’re pretty much admitting she wasn’t actually fine/balanced after all, although this is no doubt really another poor way of saying something is unfun to play against (one of the two reasons Mercy got reworked, officially).
Removing superjump is effectively a nerf. It lowers her potential skill ceiling, it removes yet another element that could be considered fun to pull off at times, and reduces what creativity you can do with Mercy.

It is not a nerf, it is a bugfix.
There was no reason to fix the d.va and orisa resistance to boop but it still happened.

I mean guess we gotta wait and see. Took them over a year to fix the boop bug.
It’s not exactly the same though, blizzard stated multiple times that that was an unintended bug and even put it on their list of known issues to fix for that duration.
Yeah, I recalled either seeing that or reading it, but I can’t find it. I’ve been searching for it for about a week now.
I am 100% sure that this was stated by either Jeff or Geoff.
The from-the-ground version was discovered a year ago. It was even featured and explained on an OWL stream.
It’s very safe to say devs either don’t think it’s a bug, or they don’t care
