Hi there! I am here in the forums hopefully to gauge the opinion of fellow Overwatch players. I have been playing a bunch of customs games as of late - Hide and Seek, You Move You Die, Chill Zones, etc.
However, there is one issue time and time again that I ALWAYS face in custom games; Inactivity Removal. I will be playing a game of “Mercy vs Rein - Hide and Seek”, and I will be hiding. But I will be kicked if I do not DAMAGE Rein which honestly defeats the purpose of the whole game entirely; staying hidden from him.
I honestly think it’s very annoying and hinders the enjoyment of players in custom games when they have to keep damaging enemies time and time again in order to stay in the game; Especially with other games such as “You Move You Die” - if we move, we get killed. We have to find seekers within 10 seconds and shoot them in order to stay in the game, once the filter kicks in; but by that time, the seeker has probably already seen you and killed you. Again… it defeats the purpose.
I want to suggest to Jeff and the Overwatch Team; Is there a way you can add an option to custom games that removes this feature? Just like tweaking the settings of characters or changing the maps, we should be allowed a section to either enable or disable the inactivity filters in our custom servers. This would be very efficient to players and custom games alike, and I doubt anyone would seriously disagree with this idea considering we all have been kicked probably numerous times while trying to play games… and considering the queues or spectators, we may not even be able to get back into the game once this happens - so we lose our chance to play the game.
Thank you very much for everyone’s input, and I am very hopeful to read some feedback from the community regarding this suggestion!

i think the 2 reasons why they implemented auto kick in the first place is
•idle exp farming
•potential server traffic

like it’s hard to set a macro for xp farming. Nevermind, it would go like:
Option: Remove Inactivity (CAUTION: This feature disables xp gained)

I understand that the idle exp farming could be an issue. However, I also believe that it hinders players far more to have this insanely short inactivity kick thing. If a person is moving around then why should they be kicked? If someone is merely EXP farming, they would leave their computer and go do something else or tab-out to multi-task on the internet rather than play.
If a character is moving around, emoting consistently, or someone is using voice chat consistently, I think that is plenty enough show of activity to keep a player in the game. Limiting our gameplay to shoot = playing really limits custom games especially if you’re hiding, unable to move, etc. And overall its just annoying in games like CTF when you’re the only player on the point trying to watch out for enemies pushing whilst your whole team plays aggressively.
Server traffic is a likely concern, but in all honesty, considering the servers can withstand the server traffic from new events, Anniversary, and Christmas, I can’t imagine servers collapsing from hide and seek servers.
Simply removing xp gain from “removing inactivity kick” would work out already.

YESSSSS PRECISELY. If you remove the inactivity feature, just have it disable EXP earned in the game!! It’s not like we really get much EXP from custom games anyways… It’d be just like the badge / spray system; you cannot earn achievements or sprays in custom games (ex: Floor is Lava achievement) so the same can be done with custom games not using an inactivity filter: no exp!

I got a treat for you guys…
I don’t know if you already found out,
but i went to ptr and made a custom game.
while exploring rialto, there’s a system message that popped-up;
"You will not receive experience from this match
if you remain inactive"

YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSS I’m happy to hear that!!! I hope they implement this feature in all games. It would be very easy to just have a feature that gives you EXP based off of activity or how well you do in the game - more kills, more exp. No kills, no movement, etc? No exp.
