Suggestion to solve the smurf issue

You can still buy alt accounts, but your MMR from your main account carries over automatically. You dont get an MMR reset.

How can you prove that its your mmr. So many problems with this exist

Blizzard has detection software for people who want to dodge account suspensions. When you buy an alt account, they are fully aware whats your main account.

Why would anyone buy a new account then??
More people buy new accounts to reset MMR than to smurf at a lower one. Implying they were not happy with their first MMR assignment.

There should be no reason to buy an alt account anyways.

People do because no resets between seasons and the window of data is unlimited vs measuring ability with respect to some kind of time window.

I mean you don’t have to sell me, I have a diamond border account. I play on it all the time. But I do have another account I rarely use now.

If you have someone who is performing at a diamond standard on the first match of placements they should be immediately put in a queue that prioritizes them with people of that same ranking. If someone buys a new account they intend to get to their true ranking to either learn a new hero or class the. This will make sure they get to their true rank faster without ruining the games of others. If they do placements that get them placed very low and they have games where they put up stats that are clearly too high for that rank and then they have games where they are severely below the stats they just put up they should immediately have all accounts on that ISP frozen and they should compare all the accounts to see if this is a pattern. If it is they deserve to be banned on all accounts.

Blizzard doesnt do MMR resets between seasons for a good reason.

Not for normal people. But for top 500 and streamers I understand buying more accounts.

I didn’t know that  thanks. So blizzard is fine with smurfing?

Kind of. It’s a real grey area.

As long as they paid for the game once and can play it normally on their main account, there is no reason buying a new one outside of smurfing. Blizzard has match making for a reason, they try to bypass that. Thats a problem.

Blizzard has stated “smurfing is allowed” in the past.

I’ve seen players throw games just because they recognize the name of a pro player, streamer, or YouTuber. Also why not get multiple accounts to top 500?

Damn that sucks. Post must be atleast 20

No way they said that. They say it’s okay to buy alt accounts. Smurfing has never been approved.

Yes, they think their match maker just brings high ranked players “quickly” back to where they belong so since its only a couple of games and buying smurfs makes them money, they dont see it as an issue.
What they dont account for are streamers and content creators making money by doing smurf VODs and buying new accounts over and over again to stay in lower ranks without technically braking the rules. They are basically exploiting a loophole in the system.

I believe the gist was “Smurfing is not against the rules”
Here is one link, I’m looking for the video though…

One small issue that would never happen. Hypothetically speaking say the top top player bought 500 accounts. They could lock up the top 500 by themselves.

Smurphing is intentionally losing games to derank so games are easier on yourself. Smurph accounts are just new accounts bought with the intention of staying in a lower rank. It’s not an issue to buy a new account so long as you always try.
