[Suggestion] Genji's ult should be cancelled if he gets stunned

As far as I can tell, every other ult gets cancelled from a stun. Moira, Roadhog, even Tracer’s ults get cancelled if they are stunned while executing it. Why not Genji?

Genji’s ult is extremely powerful, and he is very mobile during it. There should be a punishment for allowing yourself to be stunned while using it.

EDIT: Please no longer base arguments on the fact that Genji’s ult is a “Transformation Ult.” My argument is basically about changing his ult to the “channeled ult” category but leaving his ability to use abilities, although I think it would be best to remove these categories in the first place.

Winston, Torb, Mercy, Soldier, Bastion and now Brigitte. Seems like you can’t bloody tell

Uhhhh no, it shouldn’t. I’m a support main and I hate Genji’s ult. But it is a transformation ult. It should damn well continue when he’s stunned, does Torbjorn, Mercy or Soldier’s ult cancel when stunned? No. Stop suggesting a ridiculous nerf that makes no sense gameplay wise.

Dragonblade is a transformation ult, so it isn’t stopped by cc, same thing with Tactical Visor, Molten Core, Primal Rage, Infra-sight, Valkyrie, and now Rally too.

Tell me a gameplay reason for it, not a name.
Call it transformation ult, channeled ult or cast ult. Why should a few heros get the tremendous advantage to keep their ult running when hit with a CC and others just lose it?

Transformation ults, look them up.

because then genji’s ult would be troll ult

imagine just stunning genji every time he ults, literally unplayable for any genji

Variety? I mean we could make every ult do the same thing but there’s no fun in that.

IKR. Imagine just stunning Roadhog or Moira every time they… oh, wait a second…

“But guuuuuuuuuuuuuys, transformation ultimates are too cool to interrupt the casting of”
-Blizzard, sometime last year (paraphrased)

But really though, take away a name and there’s not much difference between casting RIP Tire and casting Primal Rage. Then again Primal Rage isn’t a very good ultimate so being able to stop it with split-second timing would make it a joke.

Fun Fact: If you Flashbang Bastion during his transformation he gets to fire sooner.

last time i checked roadhog and moira doesn’t need to be close to do damage

reaper is the only one that seems to go close which is bad honestly

Imagine just stunning Pharah, Reaper, Sombra, Tracer, Junkrat, Mei, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Lucio, … every time they ult. Equally “unplayable” as if Genji’s ult was interruptable.

Would you say what the ults actually do is not diverse enough so we need stupid rules that make no sense and give certain heros advantages just to set them apart so we have more “diversity”? I’m not buying it.
Give me actual gameplay reasons.

So ulting Soldier and Torb need to be closer to do damage than Roadhog during Wholehog and Reaper during Deathblossom?
This flies in the face of reason.

Yet they also get locked out of their other abilities. Which should be more than enough of a compensation either way.

genji needs to be in 5 meter range do any damage stunning him out of the ult would be too easy

anyways transformation ults can’t be stopped unless you kill them before it ends

Soldier doesn’t need to be in 5 meter range to do any damage. Stunning him out of the ult is not too easy.
Torb doesn’t need to be in 5 meter range to do any damage. Stunning him out of the ult is not too easy.

So why aren’t they interruptable?

Roadhog needs to be in a fairly near range to do noticable damage. Stunning him out of the ult is too easy.
Reaper needs to be in 8m range to do any damage. Stunning him out of the ult is too easy.

So why are they interruptable?

Tell me something new.
The damn question is not how you call this type of ult but why it can’t be interrupted as easily as non-transformation ults in the first place.

Because it is part of the ult’s balance. And it is not only a name, it is a convention made by the game devs.

Transformation usually add something passive to the hero kit
( Genji, Soldier:76, Bastion, Torbjörn, Widowmaker, Winston, Brigitte and Mercy)

Channeled removes your kit and allow you to do one big thing for some time
(Doomfist, McCree, Pharah, Reaper, Roadhog, Moira and Zenyatta)

Cast is a one shot ability, usually with a small warmup
(Sombra, Tracer, Hanzo, Junkrat, Mei, D.Va, Orisa, Reinhardt, Zarya, Ana, Lucio and Symmetra)

Details Specific To Genji

So if Genji’s ult could be cancelled by a stun, it should be moved to the Channeled ult type. Meaning probably that he enter a rampage state where he auto swing his blade… no dash, no deflect possible (his kit is removed).

So maybe his transformation ult is a bit too strong right now… but moving it to the “cancellable by stun” aka Channeled would both ruins the fantasy of the cyber ninja and make it way under-powered.

I get that people see this as the intention.
But how?
How is it balanced when some ults can just vanish without having ANY value whatsoever just by activating a simple CC ability and others will just continue unless you dealt a considerable amount of damage to a hero that may be dashing wildly across the map, making it hard to hit him in the first place?

How is taking away the rest kit of a hero an argument for further nerfing his ult by making it interruptable?

And how is that not under-powering the ults that are in the channeled or cast category?

What about being only cancelled during casting? If so It wont stop while rampaging.

Although a better alternative is making a character with blind to counter them…Or even better, confuse(activate friendly fire).

yea its not fair…

losing ult because HUH its not transformation ultimate is BS

that’s like saying soldier’s ult should be cancelled if he got stunned
