(Suggestion) D.Va D.work

So, when D.Va was last nerfed, I made a thread with my personal idea for a rework. Well, more of a revert.
Today, D.Va is in dire need of…a lot of things. So I figured I’d update this and post it.
Changes compared to my previous one are in bold.

Base stats (Mech form)

  • Health decreased from 400 to 100
  • Armor increased from 200 to 400
  • Critical hitbox removed

Example of effects on beam heroes: Zarya, at maximum charge, needs 4.03s to demech D.Va. With these changes, this goes slightly down to 3.95s.
Example of effects with Crit resistance on hitscan heroes (10% crits, 100% accuracy, no falloff): Soldier needs ~31 bullets to demech D.Va. With these changes, he needs ~30.
Reaper needs ~6 shots to demech D.Va. With these changes he needs ~7.
Crit resistance is here to match the skill required to hit the critbox.

Micro Missiles

  • Ability removed

Yep, still gone.

Fusion Cannons

  • Pellet count increased from 11 to 12
  • Movement speed penalty reduced from 40% to 30%

Mitigating the Missiles removal in her cannons. This put her DPS at her release level (160).

Boosters

  • Cooldown increased from 4 to 5 seconds
  • Damage increased from 10 to 25
  • Can no longer be knocked back while Boosters are active

Just revert those to how they used to be.

Defense Matrix

  • Range increased from 10 to 15 meters
  • Max duration increased from 2 to 3 seconds
  • Delay before recharge starts increased from 0.75s to 1s
  • Cooldown reduced from 1.5 to 1 second
  • Refresh rate decreased from 13.3% per second to 11.1% per second

3s feels like the sweetspot for a burst damage blocker, as some of the most bursty ultimates are that long (Deathblossom, Barrage), and alot of others are 6s long. Combined with the cooldown, it makes it excel at peeling.
The refresh rate change makes DM take 9s (plus the 1s after it’s dropped) to recharge.

Yeah, no thanks.

This is nothing but buffs and reverts, and it will definitely make her the very first SS-tier hero.

Don’t get me wrong. I too want her buffed, but this is definitely not the right way.

This is ridiculous changes and would make her broken op again, and I’m saying that as a dva main.

Look the devs have made it clear they want the old bully dva playstyle gone, which makes sense since she made dps absolete and was always the 3rd, 4th tank in previous metas (aside from dive).

But I do dislike micro missiles as much as you do, I’d definitely trade them for more survivability , but not to become an unstoppable, unkitable killer as you suggest.

Isn’t this just the old “DM Bot D.va” with even more buffs tacked on? Or am I missing something?

Please refrain from such gross exageration. The first answer is enough trolling.

How is she unkitable and unstoppable ?

You are missing the part where she has one less second of DM for one more 2 damage pellet, as well as less total health.

I never understood why they added it in the first place, D.Va was fine without them.

Well, my feedback is that these are not the changes she needs, and that it will make her grossly overpowered.

So not trolling.
Just giving feedback.


I get that Dva needs buffs. I do. And I want them.
Maybe buffs and reverts is what she needs.

But I don’t think she needs all the reverts and buffs.

Then what does she need ? How does it make her “grossly overpowered” ?

I’m sorry, but saying that this will somehow take her from the very bottom spot to “SS-tier” is a gross exageration akin to trolling.
Do you truly believe this would make currently trash D.Va better than pre-rework Lucio or post-rework Mercy ?

Daily reminder 400/100 was considered squishy even before the damage powercreep, to those who think that much armor is insane or something

Hard to say.

I would emphasize more on her off-tank role and make her more situational and less of an generalist. Like, make her a very mobile tank with decent damage, but keep the health and DM as it is, thus making her more like a glass cannon. I think the second life would fit this nicely as well, and I would buff baby Dva as well, making it less of a burden for the team.

To be hobest, I don’t think I’m the right person to ask this, but I do think the proposed changes are too much.

No, it probably wouldn’t reach those levels, but I do think she will come close to it and will become an off-tank who starts overshadowing other off-tanks, even in their favourable team comps.

That would take a humonguous damage buff. Just reverting the nerfs to her damage from 2018 wouldn’t be enough.

She’d be much closer to her Season 2 status than to when she was at the top. She didn’t overshadow anyone in Season 2.

I don’t get how you can say that when this is basically S2 D.Va with 4 changes.
One is the move speed while firing (which they buffed back then).
Two is shooting while flying.
Three is the crit resistance.
Four is one less second of DM.

It’d be cooler if it was just 400 Armor and no health

And then we could replace micro-missiles with an eject option where the mech continues to sit and take damage/contest point until it bursts or 4 seconds pass. This would allow D.Va to leave a distraction using the same mechanics we use for Bob while running around point to the other side for cover if trying to stall the payload ; instead of the current overtime payload stall strat which is fly into damage with DM until it runs out, proceed to self destruct, and finish by popping into the air for everyone to get an easy shot on you.

We never needed micro-missiles when Overwatch started.

As for DM, we could leave Matrix the way they have it on the PTR.
