I know Reinhardt’s shield (and Brigitte’s) can defence 100% firing attack but…
I think Reinhardt’s shield (or include Brigitte’s shield) should be able to reduce melee damage when get attacked from the front of shield, It shouldn’t be fully damage although lift up the shield, It make Reinhardt have a chance to survive among enemies
- Genji’s Dragonblade attack
- Doomfist’s Rocket Punch
- All heroes’s quick melee attack
All of these attacking to shielding Reinhardt from the front and he get fully damage, You don’t think it’s not make sense ?
Example > He get 50-60% from full damage if he got melee attack at the front while he shielding
But why? Shield heroes, especially Rein, are already very strong and rule the meta. They don’t really need buffs.

Shields are fine the way they are. Just like snipers, they’re designed to have multiple counters because they are fundamentally very strong.

Personally, I would like a “Kick” from Reinhardt to get D.Va (who is getting under shield and taking Rein out with her guns), an many pesky DPS out from under shield, giving them some damage to boot (pun intended). That way they are not consistently punching Reinhardt to death with punches/kicks, as in Mercy and many other Heroes cases, that hit harder than their primary fire would do.
An for Genji (replace with any other Hero) I give, a Boot to the head.
Seriously, he is the ONLY Hero in all mode that doesn’t have a punch or kick ability in the game. The only other one that cannot punch/kick is Bastion in Turret/Tank mode, but when he is standing or walking around he can.
He has. Tell me, do you think he doesn’t need buffs because he’s meta? Honest opinion.
It’s a nerf to the enemy Reinhardt tho.

No, I’m not just brainlessly saying he doesn’t need a buff simply because he’s meta if that’s your implication. Rein has been a strong pick for a long time and has a great ult, and is one of only two anchor shield tanks in the entire game. He is versatile and can be used on almost every map.
I’m more curious as to why you would ever think he does need a buff. Bug fixes? Yes. Buffs? No.
These forums never cease to baffle me.

He’s a walking nightmare. You put up your shield and only protect. It’s proven that Orisa is a better pick. By 22% more damage blocked too.

You’re severely mistaken then. Rein is only top pick because of his team. He’s literally nothing without his team.
That being said; Team support for a team reliant hero =/= OP. That’s downright stupid to think. I’m not saying Rein is just a massive shield, because aggressive Rein players exist, and they’re scary.
Again, most picked tank in every single rank BECAUSE of the meta. It enables him. He was only ever good before in triple tank meta, which by the way, was team dependent.
Look, I love Rein the way he is, but he definitely needs some small buffs somewhere. Bug fixes as well. Other than that, he is not even close to OP.

My apologies. Regardless, just because he is top pick due to the meta, doesn’t mean he doesn’t need buffs. That’s not how that works.
Reinhardt has always, since the inception of the game, been at minimum a decent pick regardless of the META.
Damage Blocked is higher on Orisa for 2 major reasons.
- Her Shield once placed cannot move nor go down, unless HP is depleted.
- The up time of her shield is far greater then Reinhardt.

I think Rein might actually need an armor nerf.
Care to elaborate as to why a tank, made mostly of armor, would need a nerf to…armor?
This comes down to most tanks with heavy armor are too survivable not just Rein. That’s why Goats comp is so dominant. You have to have high burst damage to survive in this meta, making all heroes with sustained damage and shot guns less viable in the process. This leads to a damage creep where the devs do things like buffing fan the hammer dmg to play catch up. These changes are more like band aid fixes , because the true problem is that heal stacking on heavy tank line up is simply too strong. Nerfing armor solves Many issues this game has .
