Since we all know at the moment the defence matrix is a little bit wonky /s (It’s broken beyond belief) I’ve been thinking up a possible suggestion for how to tackle toxicity.
Right now it clearly works on you get enough reports you’re either silenced or banned from playing and the fault sometimes is just mass reports of stacked players.
So my idea is this:
A special kind of lobby/queue where if you’re a terrible person, you receive x amount reports for being toxic in chat etc, you have to play a set number of games but you receive none of the following:
- Battle pass XP
- Any form of SR gain if you do it in comp (and win) but you still receive the loss
- You’re also silenced in chats
Obviously if you’re hardcore hacking/cheating you deserve a ban sorry but you do. But you’d get the “sin bin” if you do one of the following:
- Toxic chats, flaming people etc
- Throwing games/intentionally feeding etc cos you’re tilted at your team (not smurfing btw those should be banned)
- Submit fake reports against players because you think they heal bad etc.
Naturally if you keep ending up in the sin bin, it flags your account and you should then receive bans and the higher the number of trips + reports the more that blizzard should look into your conduct.
Also the number of games increases the more times you visit (within a set period e.g. 3 months cos toxic people are more likely to make multiple visits)
- 1st offence - five games
- 2nd offence - 10 games
- 3rd Offence - 20 games (Yes it’s that steep cos you should learn by now.
- 4th Offence - The current ban system kicks in hard
and so on.
Dota 2 has something similar to this for “toxicity” and I think it’d be nice for people to have to suffer others with similar egos but also not insta penalise people who don’t deserve it.
N.B: This isn’t about whether you deserve it or not etc. I don’t care, this is just thinking out possible solutions to problems with a little bit of fairness to everyone. I hate toxic players too but sometimes there’s also innocents atm stuck too.
