Sudden Permanent Ban. Without warnings

Hey everyone,
I’m posting this because I just got permanently banned out of nowhere, and I’m trying to understand if anyone else is going through the same thing recently.

Yesterday, I played for about 7 hours straight in Competitive, grinding my placement drives. I barely used text chat — maybe a few “gg” or “glhf” messages — so I really doubt this has anything to do with abusive chat. I didn’t troll, didn’t throw, didn’t afk.
In fact, I was on a 10-win streak when it happened.

After my last match, I suddenly got a ban screen and an email saying my account was permanently suspended for “unacceptable behavior.”
Here’s the thing — I’ve had this account for over 1,000 hours, and I consistently play around Diamond rank every season (200–300 comp games per season). I’m not a smurf — this is my main and only account.

During those matches, several players threatened to report me for smurfing, and now I can’t help but think I got mass-reported and caught by an automated system.

Here’s the exact email I received:

Action taken: Account suspension

This account has recently engaged in a variety of behaviors that are unacceptable in Overwatch. These actions violate our Code of Conduct and pose an unacceptable risk to players.

Due to these violations, we have permanently suspended your Overwatch account. If you have lost any purchases or in-game items as a result, Blizzard will not provide any compensation.

As the account owner, you are responsible for all activity that occurs on your account. We ban and suspend accounts to protect our players and our services, as defined in the Blizzard End User License Agreement .

We take these decisions seriously. Our team carefully reviewed all relevant evidence before suspending an account. Technical Support cannot reverse this decision and reserves the right to not respond to appeals. For more information , please see this article:

Thank you for your understanding. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Blizzard Entertainment.

UPD: I just noticed, that in my Account Settings (Battle net website), Overwatch has “Active” status. In Battle.net desktop app it says “Suspended”. Although, OW should have status “Banned” in Account Settings. So the fact that their own system doesn’t sure either I’m banned or not cofusing me.

Make ticket for appeal and lets say what they say.Playing too good makes people mad and they slam the report button instantly.

I mean 10 win streak is pretty unacceptable /s

Sounds like a wrongful Perma-Ban. Definitely make a ticket explaining your situation and why you are totally innocent. :balance_scale:

the support AI will say : we are right you are wrong

“but the messages you quoted as toxic werent toxic at all, they were regular messages”

“dont care we are right”

it basically goes that way no matter what you ask.

“variety of behaviors” sounds like maybe the account was compromised? I dunno. Put in the support ticket though.

Join the club, I lost my 2016 account with skins like Camo, Pink, Doc Ziegler, and Snow Angel for the same reason :upside_down_face:

Over 20 tickets later and I never got my account back. Also, don’t get your hopes up if a “manager” decides to reach out to you to perform a “review” at any time after you seem to have been escalated. They’re not reviewing anything, they just look to see that you’re banned and say “mhm, they obviously did something to deserve it, keep them banned”. The only real messages are the ones obviously handwritten by non-native English speakers or the ChatGPT-written messages they copypaste in.

The only thing that ever worked for me when my current account got wrongfully suspended is when I asked in a ticket:

“What did I say specifically that got me banned? Please send me the exact message, not a copy-pasted message.”

I finally got a human being that reviewed the chat log and unbanned me when they found I hadn’t done anything wrong at all, but that was after being told multiple times with form emails that I had definitely broken the ToS and definitely deserved my punishment.

The last ditch option I saw someone suggest is to attempt a formal request of all your data from Blizzard. You might be able to look through your ban data, and if it says a generic reason for the ban, it’s likely something you can argue because it would have come from player reports, not from anything auto-detected.

The comp drive this season’s been beyond foul and the worst experience I’ve had with the game in the entire game’s run, I’ve had the worst, most toxic brainlets for teammates who go negative and blame me for everything despite the stats proving otherwise. Thanks for reminding me to be careful, I’m skipping the fancy signature this season, not worth it at all.

Either way, sorry for your loss, wishing you best of luck from a fellow permabanned :sparkling_heart:

Permanent ban means you’ve been banned before. No one ever gets permanently banned unless they were caught cheating.
