Interesting stuff.
Private AMA? What.
âŚ
YESSS manifesting Support Sym
I know this doesnât mean itâs definitely happening, but knowing theyâre going to try it makes me happy.
Why cant they just call it an interview?
Because it isnât really an interview? That would mean one person asking questions they themselves prepared I gues.
This covers some interesting topics, but 47 minutes⌠yeeshâŚ
Ummmmm I canât believe more people arenât talking about that?
Well, we know they have a private discord server but from past experience we also know that pros and content creators rarely get more info/news than us (other than weekly challenge info)
I think a private AMA is something the devs should at least post about and share what was said so that content creators and pros donât need to play a game of âtelephoneâ with the community.
Basically via discord Community Managers, members of the Dev team, and several community content creators got together to have a AMA prior to the upcoming public one.
Note, I did not participate as I am not a content creator.
The TL:DR from this AMA was pretty wellâŚ
- There will be a serious look at all heroesâ balance for the transition to 5v5, especially Snipers, Off-tanks, and Supports.
- Scoreboard changes in development, no details yet
- Competitive season changes in development, no details yet, aiming to be more meaningful between seasons
- No new competitive cosmetic rewards are considered at this time
- Reimplementation of skill rating decay
- Looking to aggressively tackle âsmurfâ/account manipulation behaviors, but not ban alt accounts entirely
- Tournament system on the wish list, but not in the OW2 short term
- Pride/LBGQT+ content coming soon
What constitutes being a âcontent creatorâ ? Do you need to make money off of it? Iâm pretty sure you made videos displaying patch notes and I consider that âcontent.â
Quickly skipping over the phrase âprivate AMAâ - I donât suppose thereâs a transcript somewhereâŚ?
EDIT:
Thank you.
Yeah, my approach to creating content is not necessarily geared toward direct entertainment, but more toward creating helpful information that supports our community. In my unique role, I am content to just help players where I can to enjoy Overwatch more. Its what I am for. Also note, it really is not a secret that I communicate with Josh Nash and Blizzard Customer Support, but I use that privilege responsibly as a forum MVP aiming for these goals, and not for my own direct benefit to create content.
I guess no need to rush my gold rush goalsâŚ
You know I feel kinda sorry for the DPS Sym and Main Tanks if this is a thingâŚ
But just kinda
I am still keeping the other side of that under lock and keyâŚ
Because of things it would say.
This sounds⌠fine, I guess?
Like nothing to get particularly excited about but at least itâs not objectively bad.
EDIT: also, lots of âwe donât knowsâ⌠deffo a whiiiile before release.
I cannot wait for even more less content!
I will likely only be happy if that âseriousâ look on the support side of things is longer then 20 minsâŚ
Because we heavily been avoiding that so far.
Heâs pretending heâs leaking something because it gets more views.
There was a content creator AMA and they are allowed to share everything.
Itâs the same one that confirmed the Pride stuff.
He said grab a drink. I got my whole dinner AND a drink.
The content creators get a lot more access than that. They are treated as 1st class citizens. Before covid, they would be flown in for AMA/Q&A and go to pubs and stuff with the dev team. They still log 2-way convos with devs in that discriminatory discord channel (the one that, when not talking about top1% complaints, makes fun of low ranks and normies). These guys are algorithmically whitelisted, show up on bnet launcher, and have some of the easiest games Iâve ever seen at ranks 3000sr above what they look like. Sadly, so much of OW2 will probably come from their groupthink. Theyâll be the first to have keys, and will be making clickbait livelihoods months before you can even get your $0.02 in with the designers.
I canât wait for them to wipe the slate clean and create a fresh new A-list for OW2.
I am surprised about a private AMA, well it does not seem too bad
