To this day I did not find a “fix” for that, but I have noticed that when I am in the menu or when I am in the practice range, game is loaded into RAM pretty slowly, it’s like 50 MB/s although game is on NVME SSD. When RAM is filled with slightly over 8 GB of game data, I know that I can go to play without stutters. I do not know why loading into RAM takes so much time for Overwatch 2, compared to other games I am playing. (This is not related to AMD driver version, this has not been changed by single driver version for me - 6900 XT, 5800X, 4x16 GB 3600 MHz CL16).
Is there a reason why this process is limited to such slow loading?
That’s why I am considering (for longer time) Nvidia GPU with at least 16 GB or more VRAM as ugrade, since I play this game for years and this is something what’s really bothering me. I am wondering, why it’s just this game, why games like FFXIV, Helldivers 2, COD MW III, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and any other AAA games working like a charm with 6900 XT? But when it comes to this specific game, experience is like this?
This is pretty much exception… I yet have to find other game that’s behaving like this.
Unfortunately, only AMD can answer that. They built their driver to work that way. However, it does happen in other games, just not ones you’re playing.
I have motherboard with RAM slots where external locking mechanism is only at one side, while other side (bottom one) is “opened” (without it). But it still needed to be pushed more until there’s audible click on both sides of each RAM slot. Now loading from SSD into RAM is much more faster.
