Reaper, Roadhog, McCree, Reinhardt, Lucio and others shouldn’t lose their ultimates when stunned. Losing ultimates because Ana shot a sleepdart down range or Brig just wants to bully you makes these stunnable ultimates really bad and inconsistent. If you flashbang / hook / bash an ulting soldier, it prevents him from firing his rifle but doesn’t end his ultimate. I believe that this is how every ultimate should work. In the case of Reinhardt and Lucio, it should delay the cast of the ultimate until the stun wears off (then Rein/Lucio would automatically cast the ultimate again). This makes stunning still useful vs ultimates (for example, stunning an ulting Rein to give your team more time to react) but also makes these ultimates feel more like ultimates, and reduces the amount of times you charge up an ultimate only to have an errant stun eat it.
Soldier’s and Genji’s ults are “channeled” ults, meaning interrupting won’t break them. As for the others, you just have to play around the enemy team. Brig is easy to bait, because most Brig’s will spam bash as soon as it is off CD. McCree is trickier but also uncommon. An Ana dart is excusable imo because how delayed it is when firing it.

Soldier and Genji’s ult’s are transformative ults but I know what you mean. I just don’t think it should matter, I don’t think ANY ult should be removed on stun. Its not an issue of how ultimates are stunned, its why they should be stunnable in the first place.

I don’t like the idea of certain ultimates (which you have to charge) being instantly removed by a cooldown ability that is up much more often.
Different ult types. Transformation ults can’t be interrupted(Genji, Soldier, Bastion etc). Casted ultimates can be.
Lots of ults can be made useless by normal skills though.
Zenyatta’s cry when their party gets hit by Ana’s piss grenade during his ult
Soldier/Reaper/Dva cries when Rein manages to shield his party in time, wasting their ults
It’s a little different, but Sombra’s Ult flat out destroys Syms and Lucios
Doomfists ult can be stopped by a Mei wall, making him impact way too high to deal AoE damage.
Ana’s sleep dart basically ruins any/all transformation ults too.
Tracer’s pulse bomb literally disappears when Zarya places a bubble on the stuck character.
It does suck to get interrupted and lose your whole ult, but you’ve just got to keep that in mind before you use it. That’s where situational awareness really kicks in.
Stuff like Ana and Mei’s ults should not be cancelled. Did you guys know you can cancel nano boost from coming out by stunning Ana at a specific time? Cuz it can happen. Happened to Surefour during one of his streams. It was pretty funny but it’s also dum
You’ll learn better timing and how to outplay your opponent better I guess? The only ults where the stun/loss just seems unacceptable are probably Mei’s and Tracer’s - where they can be deleted even after being throw - oh, and Ana’s, i forgot her’s it also a projectile that’s ‘thrown’. Other wise, it’s just being outplayed (to some extent).
Stun abilities are generally easier to land than others.
Yes, situational awareness is important. Of course its important, I’m not stupid. The issue isn’t about losing the ultimate all the time, the issue that there isn’t an oppetunity to use a stunnable ultimate because there is an Ana / Brig / Cree / Hog / Doomfist that would instantly stun the ult, and the effective effective area denial (the radius around them which they can reliably stun you in time) is actually pretty large. A Reaper isn’t going to ult next to a Brig / McCree just like Roadhog wouldn’t. Its suicide.
