I won 14 games with healer but havent ranked up from gold 5…
is it a bug?
Supposedly you get your rank adjusted after 7 wins or 20 losses.
So, if the game thinks you belong in gold5 and you get 7 more wins it will put you in gold5 again.
Unless the game “thinks” you belong in a higher rank it will not pull you out of your current one.
Seems like winning is not the only factor in rank change anymore. Not sure what it’s based on now. I hate that we have less transparency in how we rank.
I feel more anxious now than I ever did seeing my SR change in OW1, which was the whole point in changing to this system (to reduce anxiety in ranking).
Thanks for the reply
that seems silly, I don’t feel the point of playing healer if I’m not going to progress without knowing why.
Was it 14 wins straight or did you have losses as well?
I had 75% winrate and it made me stay in the same tier for two 7 wins.
I lost some but it wasn’t that many.
surely the point of the system though is to let me rank up if I win 7 before losing 20, or it just seems pointless.
If I recall, I think you usually got anywhere from 20-30 SR up or down depending on a win/loss. Gold 5 to Gold 4 is 100 SR, so if you assume you gain/lose 20 SR per win/loss, you would need 7 wins with no more than 2 losses to rank up from the bottom of Gold 5.
P.S. This is assuming that ranking still works the same as OW1.
That wouldn’t make sense. If you are losing more than you win at a rank as low as gold 5 then you don’t deserve to rank up.
I think we all can agree on “nobody really knows how it works” and “that’s blizzard’s faul for -once again- lack of communication”.
I just went 7-2, and dropped one rank. Did it again, 7-2, dropped another rank. The wins were mostly overwhelming, and the losses were close. So although I didn’t initially have a hard time ranking up, I’m confused as to what the system actually is.
Your performance is also a factor.
If you’re in Bronze 5 and you’re still winning games then maybe reflect on how many deaths you get per match?
Are you at least getting more than 15 elims a match?
Are you reaching 10k heals per 10 min?
Are you combining ults or using them at a good opportunity?
If you’re playing well you will climb if you’re not meant to be there then bronze is your new home.
I went from bronze 5 to Diamond 1 and I applied a bit of old OW1 to OW2. Deaths and Elims per 10 are very important.
Did you happen to DC from any matches? That was an automatic -50SR if you didn’t rejoin in OW1.
No, the only reason the 20 Loss condition is there is so that your rank can change if you are doing Badly. Imagine if you just can’t get the 7th win until your 50th match. Now that would suck!
So for 99% of the community they should hit 7 wins first. Then your rank will be adjusted based on how many losses and likely some degree of personal performance but that is speculative.
Plus I’d like to add that I assume your teammate’s hidden SR is also a factor.
So yeah, once again: instead of fixing something Actiblizz managed to make it worse than before.
In OW1 we at least had thresholds and could guesstimate when we would hit them or how long farming would probably last.
Now it’s surprise salsa with copium tacos.
Why you’re assuming bronze is beyond me. But no I didn’t DC, my elims were good, my healings were over 12k per 10, deaths were low, ect. I know all of these factors, and people can make excuses for blizzard all they want, but straight up the system is just confusing and somewhat inconsistent
first 7 I remember losing a few but second 7 pretty sure I lost like 1. Oh well, I was very wrong about how it worked. although winning 7 and seeing nothing change is a bit disheartening.
I mean, you COULD be close to the next threshold. I have had instances where I jumped from Gold 5 to Gold 3. So, maybe you’ll jump 2 steps next update.
I’m in the same boat. I’ve won two sets of seven for a new rank and go from silver 1 to silver 1. Is there something that I’m missing. I want to play competitive but I feel like its not worth it if no matter what I do I’m stuck at silver 1
Stats are a big factor. Make sure you’re not dying and your KDA is good and you should rank up. Lower ranks should be at about 1k dmg or 1k heals per min.
